I Have a simple 5.1 setup and I know the bottom frequency response of my front towers, center and bookshelf rears.
I have my Sub. set to center LFE.
Should I use Bass Management?
Where are settings for crossovers for my speakers?
Thank you

You should always use bass management in a home theater setup. What is your processor?

Use the setup routing in the XMC-2 and allow it to test your system and set Xover points. You'll get best results by letting the software do its thing.

I am not using the Dirac system and don't want to, I let my ears guide me ( I suffered a minor hearing injury unfortunately ) How do I setup the crossovers manually? Thank you

Thank you Read this article on Audioholics, especially the section on crossovers. There is also a video that is worth a listen. www.audioholics.com/home-theater-calibration/a-v-receiver-setup-crossover-distance-level-eq

Thanks, I did the reading and watched the bi-amp video, the only video on that page. Lots of really great info! Do you know where in the XMC-2 menu system I can manually setup the crossovers for my individual speakers?

Setup —> Speakers —> Preset 1/Preset 2 —> Size —> Fromts/Center/Surrounds —> Small/Large —> Frequency —> 80Hz. Keep moving right in the Menu to get to the crossover, and choose your crossover settings for each of your 5.1 setup.

Yea and you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out all the dam settings! What the hell ever happened to just moving the bars up and down like an equalizer!

The manual has some inaccuracies in it (such as the "Loudness" setting) and so I thought I would ask here. Thank you for taking the time to point out that the manual has information about the XMC-2 in it.

It also is defined in the manual. If you want to use the granularity in a processor in this range it helps to educate ourselves. Ergo the manual, if not you could probably find an easier processor to program at a far lower price.

Not understanding the settings is even more reason to just let the system do it for you. Manual control is for people who really understand and want to dig in. Use Dirac.

OK, let me ask another question. If I understand the manual correctly, I must set my front towers to small to change the crossovers permanently. If set to large and changed, the changes will be undone when I power down and not present anymore?
Thank you
