How is ARC with FW 2.2. Previously I could only get ARC to work if i do a full power down restart. powering on from VRO will lose ARC. No sound, and controls becomes sluggish. Then my HDMI board failed. Replaced under warranty. Or at least fixed. ARC didn't work. Sluggishness appeared again 2 weeks ago. HDMI board failed when trying to update to FW 2.2. XMC-2 cannot restart. Persistent HDMI board error. Just got delivered back to UK distributor for warranty repair again. And I just tweaked a good Dirac curve... For me it works just like it does with FW2.1. Once it's operating it keeps working. The biggest hurdle in my system is my very needy Sony tv. It gets lonely and wants to take over the operation of EVERY device in my system, and I haven't found a way to disable its interest. So, like what happened a few days ago when the tv did a firmware update I had to do a "Initial Setup" to get ARC working again. This means I have to unplug all other devices because it would rather try to set those up first. Once it's only the processor and tv, ARC is easy to enable, then after reconnecting everything else it keeps working as if nothing was ever difficult. A note about this Sony tv, it "keeps track" of all the different devices that are used as connected sources from the processor. So for HDMI-3 on the tv it has multiple copies of HDMI-3, like HDMI-3-ATV4K, and HDMI-3-BD-Player, and HDMI-3-eARC/ARC, etc. What I'm trying to point out is that this tv is very tenacious about how it will allow itself to be setup and since it has no expert mode I have to trick it to get things setup. In my system when ARC isn't working it's because IT'S THE TV!! NOT THE PROCESSOR! XMC-2 firmware hasn't mattered for getting ARC working. edit: And yes, a cold boot for both the tv and processor are required, otherwise it's just plain insanity. If the tv is not unplugged from the power outlet it won't allow ARC to work with the processor. I also own a Sony TV. I can only agree with you.

Thanks for the tip. I will try that and see. I am also going to try playing around with the trigger and startup sequence with my harmony. I don't really like VRO as it gets quite hot but if I cold start, my power amp powers up first and there is a disturbing crackle on my speakers when the processor finish booting.

I have the issue too...my XMC-2 is in standby passthu most of the time and my TV has no ARC .. 2.1 had issues where the passthru audio would not come the unless you switched inputs then back again and it would work...so a problem on that firmware too. 2.2 drops all audio when ads come on...this is nonsense - beta testing didnt pick this up? I want to be a beta tester. god knows I have fixed and repaired enough emotiva gear over the years to warrant inclusion, I even had to fix my XMC-2 when a cap blew its can off on the power supply - QA issue as likely put on reverse polarity. This had all sorts of weird sounds coming out the Atmos channels and also the display not working properly. Linked here as the pro boards link seems to be broken walaneh.com/xpl/xpl-000208.jpg

Mine comes back after a second while it acquires the new stream. It’s annoying, but not a show stopper for me.

As per my post it comes back and after that seems ok...bar the new issues I and others are having with ads coming on and audio dies needing a full power off at the main rear switch

The audio stops and does not operate until after a full power off using rear power switch, correct? What model source and tv? Next time the audio stops working, unplug the HDMI cable from the XMC-2 to the tv and tell us what happens.

Why would anything happen...the xmc2 is in standby. It’s the same issue reported in similar threads

I am not sure if my problem is related to the ones described so far. I am running on firmware v2.2. My setup is pretty simple:
TCL TV (HDMI ARC) is connected to the XMC-2 (HDMI Output 2 (ARC)). My XMC-2 is set to wake on input "HDMI ARC". Every time I turn the XMC-2 on from standby, it would correctly wake into "HDMI ARC", but I would not get any audio out. I would need to manually switch the input out of "HDMI ARC", then back in order to get audio out of the TV.
I would expect the audio from the TV coming on upon waking into "HDMI ARC". Any ideas how I can resolve this?
