That’s why a good turntable, kirmuss cleaning system and cartridge are among essentials in a truly high end system, if you can afford them. For all of that BANK BREAKING effort…you could purchase a compact disc player thru WALMART which will yield superior audio results, extended play time with no running to pick up a needle after only a few minutes. Dynamic range unattainable from a stylus assembly no matter who makes it and a host of other time honored benefits most of us latched onto decades ago. I enjoyed my records ages ago…and the Flintstones too! You continue to harp or hint that the Nirvana you pursue is exclusive to the well heeled. There are plenty of us out there who have the coin to go down that path if we saw the sonic benefit. This stuff is good for smooth cherry 🍒 finish and bragging rights that exist solely between enthusiasts who exclusively value such things. To each his own is perfectly fine of course.

No hinting or harping, I’ve built over 100 tube amps, preamps and dacs at relatively low cost and have enjoyed them just as much as what I enjoy now, for many different reasons.
To each his own; I try to enjoy all of it.
No need to choose, but to not acknowledge this can be an expensive hobby is shortsighted. Look at the title of this thread.
Enjoy your journey.

“I’ve built over 100 tube amps, preamps and dacs at relatively low cost “ Huh? What has this got to do with the cherry turntable and WHY it’s so expensive??

It's expensive because it's handmade and looks fabulous. What's the controversy?

You can seem to acknowledge that people might want something that’s well built, pretty, and expensive, you can’t even accept that some want to listen to vinyl. You’ve made your point, maybe this thread isn’t for you.

Of course I understand and accept the fact that there are those who listen to records and enjoy that quite a bit. One of my closest friends is big on it and because I gave it up, it was a unique opportunity to give him an unused cartridge of mine and that helped him out big time. I can only add that you missed my point entirely, (with all due respect). Bill

lmao I can't believe I wasted that much of my life watching, much less $13000 (there about) It's a beautiful job well done. btw, brought back memories of my first DIY speaker project that looked good- lots of hours finishing, but sounded like crap. I luv woodworking... if one has all the needed tools
