I finally got a pretty decent frequency response with 2 subs and minidsp 2x4 HD after getting some advice. I aligned the timing by delaying the closer sub 3 ms, checking in REW impulse overlay graph. I adjusted the gains of the subs independently using their own gain settings toget them to match. Then I created a PEQ with REW by measuring them together for combined Frequency response and imported this to the miniDsp input filter slot. Then checked the timing against LCR and tweaked the sub distance in the AVR. This worked for me and was pretty easy to do.

Microphone and boom set in place. Measurements of two different low pass cross overs. Red lined measurement is 120hz which is great for demoing bass but has the adverse effect of too "throaty" vocals. And the green measurement is an improvement with an 80hz low pass cross over. Both these Xover configuration/settings are now loaded into different slots in the MiniDsp. Note: blanket is draped over back of couch during measurements to reduce reflections around the microphone. I'll listen for days, weeks, and then determine another config/setting to load into the MiniDSP's 3 and 4 slots.

Is there a more current thread on this topic at this time? Finding Subwoofer. Go to third post, see video about Sub Alignment With REW's Alignment Tool.
