Just installed 11 on my Lenovo laptop. Pretty uneventful, really. Everything I've tried works just as before. Not 1 better?

I much prefer My Windows PC to MacOS but over the years the various Windows issues have forced me to become an expert in reinstalling, reconfiguring, customising, jigging, poking, downgrading, removing unwanted add-ons (usually via a convoluted method)... My experience exactly. For my business, I buy Apple. It costs more (LOTS more), but it works without so much fighting with the hardware and software. OTOH, I do work with some programs that require Windoze. Ive done it with emulation software (VMWare Fusion, usually), but I eventually just bought a PC laptop to keep from having an extra layer of slow-you-down between the program and the computer. I spent today doing a report for a client - took me a day on the Apple - would have taken two on the PC. I've lots of friends who swear by Windows - but I mostly swear at it. YMMV & to each their own. Boom

They just keep throwing negatives at us! The last two evenings I’ve been catching up with my windows 10 updates etc. and always there is that dire warning that my system is in compatible with windows 11. That’s OK they can tell me whatever they want all it does is move me closer to a Mac

Back on the first page of this thread < Here> we started discussing whether we’d be able to run Windows 11 as a VM due to its interaction with a TPM chip. As I was looking for information on my Parallels Desktop installation, I noticed this knowledgebase article on running Win 11 with Parallels, it appears that it’s possible, and that a ‘virtual’ TPM is created. I have no need for it at the moment, but thought it interesting. kb.parallels.com/en/122702#section5

I don't do Apple... so I don't know all the details about Parallels...
BUT you absolutely CAN run Windows 11 on machines that are officially not compatible with it. There are all sorts of articles around about how to create a copy of Windows 11 that will install and bypass the checks.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of them would also install and run on Parallels.
(But, at least so far, I haven't seen many things that require Windows 11, so another option is simply to run Windows 10 in a VM.)
BTW... Here's an article on how to run Windows 11 on VMWare - on machines with OR WITHOUT a TPM: Back on the first page of this thread < Here> we started discussing whether we’d be able to run Windows 11 as a VM due to its interaction with a TPM chip. At least for now I don't know of any programs that ONLY run on Windows 11. However, to be fair, I have some machines with Windows 11 on them, and it isn't much different than Windows 10.
(If you rearranged the Task Bar, and all you do is run programs, you might not even notice the difference... although they did bugger up the Start Menu.)
We are starting to see an awful lot of that Microsoft Store... and they are pushing that update really hard... in that regard it's getting almost as bad as Apple. We really do seem to be converging on a world where Microsoft agrees with Apple that "most end users should be given as few opportunities as possible to screw up". (Or "just give 'em a tablet and call it a day".)

The Microsoft Store has been my regular go to quite some time now, just like checking the IOS app. Updates. The update process, (along with Microsoft security updates) is so alike these days that I don’t care which O.S. I’m using, so long as it gets the job done. Most importantly for windows (I believe) is “Defender” which at this point is comprehensive enough to ditch extraneous antivirus software. I’ve run with that and Spybot for years now with no consequences. They just keep throwing negatives at us! I mentioned the VM issue above because I’m moving my Parallels hypervisor and Windows VM, from my Intel based Mac mini, to my M1 based MacBook Pro 14 (it’s so much faster!) This requires an entirety new Windows installation (not just moving the existing VM to the new machine) because a VM built on an Intel Mac, won’t run on an M1 Mac. This means installing an ARM based Windows, and both Windows 10 and 11 are available this way. Parallels has taken the position that while Windows 10 ARM will probably run, they will only support 11 ARM on M1 hardware (makes sense to me).
So I spent the day installing the latest Parallels on my MacBook, followed by a new ARM based Windows 11 VM, tomorrow I’ll get my one Windows app installed, Visio 2019, then hopefully start a design for my new turntable shelf. So while Windows 10 worked fine, I expect 11 will run just as well or better for my purposes, and I’m happy to be on the latest of everything … hmmm, maybe I’ll even upgrade to Visio 2021!
⚡️💻 ⚡️
Update: My Windows 10 Key from my previous 10 VM Installation, successfully activated my new Windows 11 VM.
