I am thinking about getting tube risers for my preamp and have two questions.
1. Once inserted, can the risers be removed? How?
2. Is there any chance the use of risers will degrade the quality of the sound?
Thanks!

Thanks, PF.
Stupid follow-up question: How do you remove the risers once they are inserted? Because they are flush with the top of the preamp, there really isn't anything to grab ahold of to pull them out. Is a tool necessary?
Thanks for the help.

Do your tube risers look similar to this?

Thanks for the help. 9 times out of 10, the risers come out with the tube... if not, a needle nose plier can be gently used to remove it.

Curious as to why you want to use them.

^^^That is correct. Busted! That’s ok! Big warm and shiny ✨! That’s half the allure when you’re a tubey fan. The risers put it in your face all the more

^^^Absolutely!!!
Thanks, all!
While I'm asking stupid questions, please allow me to pose this one. I have read about people "baking" their tubes. I assume this means breaking in the tubes before doing critical listening. Is there a technique to "baking" tubes? Is there a minimum period of time to "bake" a new tube?

The only real way to 'break-in' a tube is to use it with an audio signal going thru it.
There are no stupid questions.

And please, please, make sure you: 1. NEVER put a tube or a riser into or out of your gear when it is turned on. 2. ALWAYS use the same type or equivalent tube in a socket as the design intent. Just because the pins fit does not mean it is a good idea to use it.

Thanks, guys.
How long before a tube is "baked" or broken in? 1 hour? 10 hours? 100 hours?

Thanks, guys. How long before a tube is "baked" or broken in? 1 hour? 10 hours? 100 hours? There is no rule of thumb. Turn it on, play your favorite music, and listen while it does its thing. That's the only thing that matters - enjoy the music.

Interesting question...Don't get too paranoid about what is or isn't going to come out of your speakers. My rule of thumb is give the equipment plenty of time to warm up.. I like to give my amp 45 minutes. Although me being impatient will end up giving it half an hour (that's on a good day).. You will know when it's right as the soundstage suddenly opens up.. I was told by the main "Grove tube" importer not to mess around with putting fancy things on top of these valves coz if they made that much difference the designers would have insisted that they were be fitted before they left the factory.. Makes sense to me..im a new guy on this forum so I'm not too sure what the format is.. Might be nice to know the name of the amp and also the speakers/spec. Have fun.

“My rule of thumb is give the equipment plenty of time to warm up.. I like to give my amp 45 minutes.” After 45 minutes I’m done listening (now I’m washing the car 🚘 ⚠️😮😝💀😀🥹🤣)
