It’s interesting the OP has only made 1 post, he seems to just want to say that he won’t buy any more Emotiva as long as it has Blue LEDs. 🤷♂️ I don’t expect that’s likely to change, nor that we’ll be seeing blue meters on any Emo gear (though it would probably be welcome on an XPR type replacement). I wouldn’t mind seeing a clipping light, or even a ‘not-clipping’ light. Take the current LEDs on the XPA series, and have them turn off if you start clipping (maybe when the rear display switch turns them off, they flash on with clipping). No additional parts required, though some circuitry. ![](//storage.proboards.com/1381179/thumbnailer/KoojitVIOjLhHqmMOfIo.png)

I enjoy the blue LEDs from both my Sherbourn and Emotiva gear. I'm not one to surround my tv with a backdrop of them, but the simple power button or front LED don't bother me at all. If the blue LED really bothers you that much, don't buy the product...however, this isn't an airport and there is no need to announce your departure.

Every time I consider giving Emotiva another chance after my UMC-1 turned into something that will not output audio to the amps, I see the pictures, blue everywhere and even the pictures give me a headache. The problem came from how efficient blue light is and using the same output as other colors to where we have been blasted to total blue burnout ten times over and there is more. Since white LEDS made blue possible, both are circadian disruptors and the human eye has difficulty focusing on it as it is. I changed my Managed POE switches to Luxul at over 1k per switch just to be able to have green LEDs. The guy who started Pakedge was so excited about white LED making blue possible or the reverse that it was on every LED and every product so I had had enough years ago. Just stop Emotiva! Anything but blue! You should be drawn to the music, not the leds. Kill the blue! Kill the Blue! I do not care how good the equipment is, I simply will not have blue leds in my house if it is avoidable and avoidable it is. First off, the XMC-1 display is an OLED display and I assume that a monochromatic OLED display is significantly cheaper than a full-color display.
Secondly, you've got that backwards. There are no such things as "white" LEDs. A white LED is a blue LED with phosphor doping. The blue light causes the phosphor to fluoresce white. I like the blue color, although I have the Grace digital tuner by my bed set for a red display, so it doesn't attract moths in the middle of the night. Like someone else said, I care about the sound, and not at all about the display color.

Interesting to note the XMC1 POWER button is amber, not blue on standby, and pleasing to the eye while sitting at bay. The amber standby illumination varies in intensity depending on what brightness “percentage” it’s at (between 0 and 100) when you shut down. The Samsung flat screen up top makes a nice night light. That one is optioned to be either on or off when the monitor is off, so I use Samsung on with power off.

Here's a picture of some of the Carver gear I used to own. The amp is an M1.0t MkII Opt002 (modified unit). It had blue to yellow to RED LEDs. I soon realized there is more to sonic bliss than just lots of watts. Red was really loud; so was yellow.
My last piece of Carver gear got blue LEDs on the meters when it was modified
Actually, I still own the Pre amp (modified) and the tuna.

As far as real functionality goes, the only LED’s I ever had that meant something were those on my twin bridged Carver 1.0t’s. I was cranking a lot of live listening level music at night. Those amps. were up top of my system at the time about a foot from the ceiling. The LED’s were far more reactive than meters and in the dark you had a good idea where you were at with the power. (and at a good distance). They were red with a set of ambers that kicked in if you were approaching dangerous limits. In all the years I had those I only saw a whisp of those once. Still have a working M1.0T bought back in college used for shaking neighboring apartments stuff off the wall while listening to Top Gun VHS with JBL 4312s, CV H10, and BIC 15" passive sub. Good ol days...LOL JBLs are my current L & R in HT system today.

That 1.0 is interesting….never saw one before. My 1.0t’s were the earliest versions I believe. The later model had a bridge switch on the back. Mine did not so the tech bridged them internally with a lead that soldered the channels together. I ran them like that for 13 years until I got the multi channel Sunfire. Before I sold them off, I pulled the covers and removed the wires and neatly resoldered. Those amps had a soft life because I could never get close to the threshold. (1000 watts rms@8 ohm) Ignorance was bliss!

I found Emotiva like 15 years ago searching for "blue led receiver" on Google...every receiver I've bought since has been there's. It matches my Emotiova amps too...#teamblue

The “blue” has never been something I’ve looked for or focused on, but coincidentally most electronics I’ve bought recently have blue lighting or blue pilots. My new Linksys mesh nodes ( one of which is in the HT room) has a blue pilot when connected.

Blue by definition is a "cool" color. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) That said, I remember years ago when audio equipment was commonly silver, until the trend turned to all black components. Then people supposedly got sick of the black. Yet it's still common today (not exclusively though, obviously). About being difficult to see, I am finding the display on the TA1 to be much easier to see from my couch 8-10' away than I could the TA-100 display. May be a different shade of blue. My eyes aren't all that great anymore but I can read it just fine. Previous one seemed blurry or glare-y.

Personally, I like all black, because I like the HT experience and black disappears better when viewing movies. Only problem is the dust shows up in a hurry ![](//storage.proboards.com/1381179/thumbnailer/jivAdAIcmtPPEHVwSxWf.png)
