AR9 has (2) 12" woofers. Flat down to 18Hz. The 901_II will shake the walls but my ARs shake down thru the frame of the house. The AR90s are no slouch either at 23Hz

My pipe organ collection loves the 15hz reach of the V. HGS 18…..not to mention those Sci Fi explosions!

My pipe organ collection loves the 15hz reach of the V. HGS 18…..not to mention those Sci Fi explosions! Do you have any idea how MANY compositions for pipe organ USE the 16hz pipe? A so-called 32' ..... I can think of ONE offhand. the Saint Saens Symphony #3, 'with organ'... I'm certain their are others, but not a whole lot. And while my sub DOES reproduce that note, certainly NOT at high levels. The HOUSE rattles at the same time. Movies, OTOH? Can sound like anything since nobody knows what most of that is supposed to sound like, anyway.

Box speakers going to 20hz are so unusual and CAN be expensvie so that Stereophile has a seperate Category for them.....
'Stereophile Class A' is good to 20hz and must meet a few other requirements. Only the Golden Ear speakers are Less Than $10,000 in this category.
Some go well north of 100,000$ to the point where my Eyes Cross. I count 19 speakers in this category.
To this end? A system which 'gives up' an octave or more above the magic 20hz level when coupled with a good sub or subs EASILY gets that
bass performance while coming in at a more reasonable price point.
I haven't owned box speakers in 35 years or more but would guess that ALL Acoustic Suspender types will need a refoam at some point, regardless of severity of service.

“To this end? Supposedly, the more recent surrounds have improved chemical composition meant to last longer. We’ll see….I did the last batches in 2012 and 2016 respectively. Additionally, since I moved to a central AC environment, it’s a huge help.

Good Point......NOTHING worse than living in a place with LOTS of say......Ozone...which I suspect will 'eat' most surround materials.
