THis is a bad sign. Any chance you might indulge us and take the cover off and see what HDMI chips they are using? If they are the same as in the XMC and RMC this problem shouldn't appear as I don't recall anyone reporting this type of issue with those products. Its possible/probable its the same panasonic hdmi chipset as the tonewinner at300

3D Update.
Manual says nothing regarding 3D support. However, 3D works fine.

I would be concerned in the long run about a pduct using the MN864788 as Panasonic sold their semiconductor business to Nuvoton two years or so ago. THey have carried over some parts, but whcking the Nuvoton site this one isn't shown. One has to presume that Tone Winner has a sufficient stock to protect them if/when the part goes EoL.
I'm guessing that the actual HDMI transciever parts are from ITE. THere are really only a few companies in that space right now: ITE, ADI, Lattice for legacy parts only, and one other Taiwan-based company Whose name I can't recall. Of course, Nuvoton will hopefully continue to develop the Panasonic parts, but that remains to be seen. When Lattice bought the line from Silicon Image they kept making the parts they already had dies for, but sold the IP to yet another company mname Invecas.
It's a strange market as products such as AVRs and processors aren't that big a segment, as these things go. I suspect that most of the HDMI work in TVs is done within the SoCs, but they make also use dedicted chips.
You have to give it to Emotiva for wading into this part of the products. I'll bet it isn't an easy t hing to source and design around.

I got mine setup last Thursday night and I haven’t experienced any hdmi switching issues? What equipment are people seeing issues with? I’m running a jvc rs1000, which isn’t fast to begin with. But not seeing any additional delays.
And I got my harmony hub all set up. Took a bit of time to manually add the remote codes in and figure out proper delays on power up, but working flawlessly now

Kind of how it should be re: processors.

But I guess where I am going is to say that if the parts they are using in anew product will go EoL sooner than later one has to hope that they keep enough boards for spares. Emotiva has been around long enough, though, that onehas to believe that they have taken that into consideration. THe real question is what are they doing about products with HDMI 2.1? I don't read all the threads, so pardon me if I've missed anything, but has their been any hint as to what their intentions are on that?

History has shown that Emotiva does not guarantee keeping parts around and support for out of warranty products. This is why I decided that any Emotiva product I buy, I won’t keep it too long past the warranty period. Their intention is to release an HDMI 2.1 board for the G3P processors. It’s going to be something that will generate revenue and keep the G3P relevant. Per Keith, this is in the works but when we will actually get a shippable board, not sure as they haven’t communicated this. For the MC1, I think Emotiva will follow ToneWinner’s schedule. They can relax about this processor since it’s outsourced.

They can relax about this processor since it’s outsourced. I have found that other manufacturers do the same thing as Emotiva in terms of spare part stock. That includes Denon, Sony, Pioneer, Infinity, to name a few I have dealt with in the past. No surprise as they move onto new models and keeping stock of old parts that are no longer relevant after the warranty expires makes no sense. High end manufacturers are a different story, though eventually they will no longer stock parts. The high end tends to not change models or designs as quickly. So, if the warranty has expired, it's a crapshoot as to whether you can get a part. You may be able to get your Emotiva product fixed at a local shop depending on whether the failed part(s) is common or not. Amps would be the likeliest products that could be fixed locally. It's a shame, but understandable. Anyway, just my observations for what they are worth....take them with a grain of salt...or two!

However, at least in California, the "Song Beverly Act". which is established law, requires manufacturers to provide parts up to seven years from date of sale. This does NOT mean that they have to supply them for free once the warranty has expired, but they DO have to make them available. Alternatively, if they cannot do that they have to replace the product or refund the purchase prince. That should be a cautionary note for ANY brand.

I'm envious of all you guys that got your orders in early! Mine still hasn't shipped yet. I just got some of the Emotiva ATMOS height speakers and I can't wait to try them out, but I won't have a way to drive them until the MC1 arrives.

Update. Someone on avsforum was curious why there was no discussion about the units in the field. It is likely because there is nothing wrong to complain about. Mine works well and I like it.

I think it’s more likely because only a limited number of orders were able to be filled from the initial smaller “air freight” shipment. The much larger portion of that order was due to arrive in-port, via traditional container, some time this month (January) and likely has not yet arrived at Emotiva HQ for any remaining order fulfillments. Glad to hear that it’s working well for you…

Hi all, new here to the lounge.. I've been eyeing the MC-1 to replace my 2008? Yamaha RX-V1800 receiver. I use the receiver only as a pre/pro, with my own external amps. It's mostly used for two channel (with sub) stereo music listening, but also multi-channel music (via Kodi music server) and movies. I know the MC-1 will have 4k capability that the Yamaha doesn't have and it appears to be more flexible with EQ settings, and of course Atmos capable, which I'm not sure I'll implement.
My main interest is if you think it will be a significant upgrade in sound quality, or do I need to spend a lot more to get that?
Thanks!

However, I have heard the UMC-200 and the MC700. If they are anything to go by, I wouldn't expect a significant upgrade in sound quality. However, if that's what you're looking for, I would look to the XMC-2. But keep in mind, increases in sound quality due to the pre-pro is hard to hear. It depends on the person (most people don't hear differences in electronics), the speakers and amp, and more importantly the room and its positioning. Your best bang for the buck would be room treatments, speakers, speaker positioning and placement, and decent amplifiers.

Has anyone that received one of these units tried to verify if it will pass a 3D video signal? I checked on it's brother the Tonewinner AT-300 and others have verified that it does pass a 3D video signal.

I feel the same way. I really hope mine ships soon! What was your order date? Got mine today. I ordered on 12/20/21. Will fire this up on the weekend! MC1 RECOGNIZED BY HARMONY HUB!!! Well .... it is taking me a long time to get everything set up because I transitioned to all new components ........... but so far I am blown away by the MC1 and it works without a flaw and the sound coming from my SVS Prime Pinnacles just blows me away (XPA2 Gen3). More on that later. But wanted to let you know this good news. I finally got around to programming my Harmony Hub and from other feedback I thought I would need to input everything manually. NOT SO!!! The harmony hub recognized the MC1 and it works perfectly!! All inputs were already programmed and work without an issue. Cheers, -Dale

The MC-1 + A5 or Outlaw 5000X might well be my upgrade path from my Fusion 8100. How fast (or slow...) is the HDMI switching? The 8100 is not lighting fast, but it takes a couple of second at the most. It strongly depends on the sources and, at power up, what I turn on first. I used to have an external TV tuner and when I switched to that it was instantaneous. Roku and Bluray player takes longer.
