The HDMI switching time for the MC1 is not an issue for me. My sources are the gating factor when I change HDMI inputs .... such as the Vizio, Blu-ray, wireless PC .... etc.

Has anyone that received one of these units tried to verify if it will pass a 3D video signal? I checked on it's brother the Tonewinner AT-300 and others have verified that it does pass a 3D video signal. Yes it does.

Hi all, new here to the lounge.. I've been eyeing the MC-1 to replace my 2008? Yamaha RX-V1800 receiver. I use the receiver only as a pre/pro, with my own external amps. It's mostly used for two channel (with sub) stereo music listening, but also multi-channel music (via Kodi music server) and movies. I know the MC-1 will have 4k capability that the Yamaha doesn't have and it appears to be more flexible with EQ settings, and of course Atmos capable, which I'm not sure I'll implement. My main interest is if you think it will be a significant upgrade in sound quality, or do I need to spend a lot more to get that? Thanks! While I can't comment on the MC-1 I can comment on the difference between a Denon X4000 used as a preamp and a XMC-1 and a XMC-2. When I replaced the X4000 with the XMC-1 I immediately set it up using Dirac so that comparison is mostly the difference between Dirac and Audyssey. In my room with my speakers the difference was huge. Better surround clarity along with the dialogue clarity improvement was not subtle at all. I then traded in the XMC-1 for a 2 which was still waiting for a Dirac issue to be fixed so it was just calibrated for 75db without any room optimization involved. Well all that Dirac goodness was gone but it did not sound bad , just a step down in overall clarity in general. Well 6 months in and the XMC-2 died on me so it was sent in for a replacement. I then dusted off the X4000 and calibrated it to 75db (no audyssey) just like the XMC-2 and wow did it sound dull and lifeless in comparison. I was quite frankly very surprised at the difference in sound between the two. Will you notice a difference between the Yamaha and the MC-1? I have no idea but the difference for my setup was definitely noticeable.

Just installed my mc1 last night. EmoQ seemed to do a good job on everything except subwoofer. I had to turn it way down as my sub was bottoming out with the auto settings.

Does the MC-1 do video pass through when off? I just checked. Mine does not in out of the box condition. (settings) I have not touched any internal settings, so I do not know if it can be made to do so.

Does the MC-1 do video pass through when off? I just went searching for that option and found what I think you are looking for. Under the main menu, go to Setup/Option. Under Option go to HDMI Option. From the manual: HDMI Options - This menu offers several options related to HDMI operation. (Most users will not need to use these options unless instructed to by Emotiva Technical Support.) Gonna give it a try and see what happens. Yep, that did it.

The Oppo 95 should be able to output SACD audio as PCM via HDMI. I had one a long time ago and I recall that it was able to do so... and it worked.
I think there are TWO places where you need to set that... including one specifically for "SACD output"... but I forget the details since it's been a long time.
I would have also expected the Oppo to automatically output everything as PCM after sensing that the MC1 doesn't accept DSD.
Oppo players will generally "fall back" to outputting PCM if the receiving device won't play DSD - even if they've been SET to deliver DSD.

I believe this was already answered. It has to do with bass management, which apparently is the same (on-going) issue with all the current line-up. Probably inaudible, but significantly impacts the measured results. Amir noted, as did others, that the manual clearly states Pure and Direct still do some processing including BM.

I don't remember the 95's menu settings, but as Keith said it should handle it OK (as should most any player). You may have to set video resolution higher, however, if you are using HDMI otherwise it will restrict the channels and rate to what your video resolution supports. At least that's the way it works on my UDP-203; I did not look at my old '83 manual and don't have the '95 manual downloaded.

Quick question ......... why is every processor "TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE" The answer that bolle gave you is spot on. This is the same reason why folks who want to purchase a Monolith HTP-1 or Anthem AVM 70 have been out of luck for months. If you need more confirmation, go over to Crutchfield and take a look at how many AVRs and AVPs are “out of stock” with no projected ETA. It’s a sad state of affairs, but it is what it is until supply catches up with demand…

I've never seen so many "out of stock" products at Crutchfield before.
