I have an xmc-2 and the dirac module is not getting an IP. My XMC plugged into that same switch is getting an IP. I'm thinking that box isn't booting up. Has anyone had this issue before?

Is this the first time you've plugged in the Network Interface Module? (We've had a few arrive DOA... but they very rarely die afterwards.)
If it's the Raspberry Pi version you should have one big red LED on the front... With a tiny green LED in the corner of it. That green LED should flicker for several seconds on startup then mostly stop. If it flashes a repeating pattern of four flashes and a pause then you probably have a bad SD program card. (And, if so, we'll send you another one.)
The newer version of the Network Interface Box has some blue lights inside... and nothing interesting on the outside. (And no removable SD card.)
And, yes, they are functionally identical otherwise...
Either way, if it's not getting an address, you should call Support.
But first try another Ethernet cable... or another port on your switch.
