It would be just fine if I never heard that sound again!đ The movie âBlack Widowâ was the culprit. I donât think the LFE channel was getting to the 3.7is. As long as a sub is connected at any setting that shouldnât happen. Right? I will definitely try dialing the crossover down to 50Hz. Thanks for your help! As for sub placement ... it's generally never the case that the right place for fronts is anywhere near the right place for subs ... unless you put both 25% from the front and side walls, which could work well. But even then, you don't get the benefit of mode cancellation from subs playing from opposite ends of the room. That cancellation gives you fewer peaks and nulls, and more uniform bass response across listening positions. Here's the Welti work on the subject ... www.harman.com/documents/multsubs_0.pdfWhen I was using subs in a "stereo" setup, connected to each front speaker via speaker level connection, I had a big null about 10Hz wide and very deep. It was when both fronts were playing the same bass signal and the null was from 60-70Hz. The solution was to add a subwoofer to the rear of the room to fill this null. Two subwoofer locations are not enough to overcome challenges in a room. IMO three is the minimum, which works perfectly for my room because four subwoofer locations won't work in my room.

Thanks ttocs How did you connect that third sub when you had the front two running in stereo off the high level inputs?

Thanks ttocs How did you connect that third sub when you had the front two running in stereo off the high level inputs? Since we can't upload any images lately, I'll have to use my words. From XMC-2 L&R Outputs using Y cables with one path going to the L&R amps then out to speaker then sub. The other path of the Y cable goes to miniDSP then to Rear Sub.

Signed up for image hosting. So here's a diagram that should be easier to digest.
