Same situation with used equipment but the ownership is transferred at emotiva support. And I'm in Sweden so will the repair centers be able to do the upgrade. This is all new info about the upgrades, and I guess no new sw-features in g3p, so hopefully all will be sorted out eventually.. I don't understand the concept of punishing someone who bought their processor used, when the original owner bought it at full price. Emotiva still got their money regardless. Seems like a strange philosophy.

I still don't get the idea of charging people who bought the processors from Emotiva at a discount more to get the upgrade than those who paid full price. The cost of the upgrade to Emotiva is the same regardless of what a buyer paid for the unit. Obviously this is a way for them to try to recoup some of the revenue lost by someone purchasing their products on sale. It just seems very backhanded and doesn't make them look good, especially when many of the upgrades in the G4Ps were supposedly coming to the G3Ps. I don't know of any other manufacturer/seller in any industry that does this.
Btw I totally get why they feel the need to come out with another generation of processors. That happened with the G1P -> G2P. In that case it was less costly and easier to replace the entire unit than upgrade it by bit. With the G2P-> G3P, I think it comes down to the original main board being extremely difficult to work with. Yes it had a better sonic signature, but this is likely an admission that it was a mistake. I actually think this is the better move, but I think "punishing" those who went out on a limb to buy a buggy pre/pro at a discount offered by Emotiva seems short slighted. This leaves a sour taste in my mouth, and this is coming from someone who has a RMC-1 and three XPA-5s. Why alienate that type of customer?

Discount is cry for help by the company giving it. It means that they cannot sell enough product so they have to adjust the price to be more realistic. So people who buy at discounted price are supporting company when it needs the support the most and now they want to punish those customers for helping them in the first place - not the right message IMHO.
You basically don't discount product that sells like hot cakes. There is no need for it.

So since I used UFL it’s $699 for me to upgrade to G4P? Nice.
Well all of this sounds good and all but we will see on the timing of the upgrade.

The discount for current buyers is an incentive to purchase a G3P now, knowing they won't be left behind when G4P arrives. The different upgrade pricing levels the playing field for new and old owners of G3P. EMO is doing above board and honest business that supports its whole customer base. I applaud them for their efforts under difficult circumstances.

Was there any word on which pricing structure for those of us who purchased the processor with our 40% discount cards?

I’d think it would fall in with UFL, but it does need to be clarified.

Unfortunately while their target is summer of next year, Emotiva doesn’t have a great track record of delivering on their target goals. So if anyone actually believes their target and that they will actually deliver may be a bit disappointed when there are delays. But for someone like me who is just sitting back and enjoying his XMC2 even though the dang ARC doesn’t work (just use ATV4K), they can have G4P ready by next summer or 2 summers from now…doesn’t matter. That’s all I’m trying to say.

I’d think it would fall in with UFL, but it does need to be clarified. I may have misinterpreted and agree it is a gray area. In any case Nick responded to sandbagger as follows: Sandbagger> what about those of us that upgraded from the XMC-1 to the XMC2? Nick> You would pay $1,099 to upgrade since you got your XMC-2 at a discounted price. I realize this is not the same case, but the 40% card is a discount. In my case, I used my 40% card from the UMC-1 purchase to buy the XMC-1 and then traded for the XMC-2. Based on Nick's response, I would guess that I will pay the higher price. The answer to the question of what would you pay if you used a 40% discount card to directly purchase the XMC-2 was not specifically answered.

What about all of us here in Europe?
I just bought my XMC2 2 weeks ago from Emotiva's International Distributor in Poland.
Will they be offering the trade in program for us? Or will we have to ship the unit back to Emotiva headquarters in the US by ourselves? Because if that's the case, it's a no go.
I really would appreciate an answer from Emotiva.
