Another simple Question again for G4P : About Bi-Amp mode under Reference Stereo Mode. G3P Bi-Amp mode does not work correctly - because of analog circuit route bug by design - so it is permanently no way to use under Reference Stereo Mode. What about G4P, is this "Circuit design error" fixed and apply new designed circuit for analog circuit? Or, is still have same problem as G3P? Actually I don't use Reference Stereo mode anymore because I need Dirac EQ enabled sound, and yes, I use XLR-Y cable for Bi-amp connection. However have interest about it. Anybody knows answer?

I don't see this mis-labeled bi-amp mode as a 'bug' or 'Circuit design error'. It's just another non feature feature; like a newly created vestigial organ; just because it can be easily made. Another 'feature' that creates more confusion than solution.

Don’t think it’s gonna happen. If it was a possibility for the +Series, then I would think Keith’s wording would have been different and probably have touted the analog board being redesigned. See quotes below from this thread. . . . . . In any case, adding that option to our current processors would entail a change to the analog audio routing... Which would require a redesign of the analog board... I agree with your interpretation... We didn't mention this in the documentation because it isn't something that you would specifically expect to be able to do... But, yes, it is a "limitation" in the sense that it is not an option we offer. . . . . . . The only real limitation is that there is no PURELY ANALOG path between the Front Mains and the Front Wides... This means that there's no way to use the Bi-Amp option in Reference Stereo or with DSD content...

You guys should all be participating in the atmos thread. I did all I can do. You guys should demand more.
Please no responses for for the underlying atmos principals of this post on this thread.. The relevant posts should go to the atmos page when discussing the principals.. And I don't know who searches the internet for jpeg screenshots of chatgpt disclosing what it thinks are important audio characteristics for the gen4. I doubt it would have much of an opinion on audibility of resistors but I digress and will save it for the ai thread. I will always honor the strange dac talks etc. It's educational for me and maybe I'll be back to listen eventually.

You guys should all be participating in the atmos thread. I did my part. You guys should demand more. There's a reason they don't want the discussion here. Take it there.
The last few posts have nothing to do with Atmos so they belong here. I don’t think there’s a conspiracy to get people out of this thread, it’s just that when the topic goes to the theoretical, recording practices, and standards that apply to all processors, it gets away from the foundation of this thread which is the G4P + series. I plan to continue general and out of the box discussion here, as well as documenting what we learn about the expansion cards. I will fully support those who want to push the envelopes of discussion about design and implementation with channels and subs, but no one needs to demand anything if that’s not their interest. I’m comfortable that the channel and sub configurations I might use will be available (though admittedly until they’re announced that’s an assumption); as mentioned, I’m more interested in Speaker Preset Triggers, and Bi-Directional USB-C, but demanding them won’t get me anywhere.

For those who aren’t trading in, will the new HDMI board be available for the G3P?
I may be getting the 83” LG C4 or something similar on or around Black Friday so it would be good to have HDMI 2.1.
I’ve been listening music for the last 2 hours and with the CR-1 the bass blending is finally where I wanted it to be. I thought I needed DLBC to get here but for 2 channel it’s not necessary. For movies it still would be nice to have a bass control version of Dirac - ie DLBM or DLBC. Otherwise my current XMC2 is doing a good job.
Still no eta I assume for DLBC? New lowered price to $350 for DLBC. If not it’s ok, in questioning the value of it anyway.

For those who aren’t trading in, will the new HDMI board be available for the G3P? The simple answer is, no. From the second post of this thread. "Multiple boards have to be changed and a whole new OS has to be installed, . . . . . . "I don't recall who I asked about this (last year) but the response was that we couldn't only replace the HDMI board.

During the Emofest reporting, I misinterpreted one of the comments to mean that there would be an HDMI 2.1 only upgrade, so I fueled some confusion. The only upgrade available for G3Ps is the eARC board — which if you only have a couple sources, could meet your needs. Plug your sources directly into the 2.1 TV, and eARC audio back to the processor.

Just had a black market / back alley idea ☠️ It doesn’t seem there’s any monetary benefit to sending in an eARC boarded XMC-2 vs the original model. So someone with an eARC who’s going to trade in, might be willing to swap boards or entire units with you, maybe for that 3rd gold watch on your arm. Should you decide to not trade in, or do it later, maybe you could get a low cost eARC upgrade. I don’t know if the eARC board is supposed to be user installable, so the whole unit swap might be more viable. Obviously I didn’t check with anyone at Emo about this idea. 🤫

Actually, unlike the earlier HDMI upgrades, the "eARC enabled" board for the G3 processors must be installed by Emotiva. $450 will get you the upgraded board, shipping both ways, and factory testing/certification.

It was worth a thought. I can go without 2.1 since I won’t be playing the PS5 in the family room. I’ll just “trade-in” for the + when it’s worth doing so. Still some unanswered questions remain (excluding 11.1.8). The eARC upgrade for $450 doesn’t seem like a good move.

I thought about doing it too when we first were made aware that they were discontinuing my RMC-1L. But after further consideration and a little cooling off, I'm going to upgrade to the RMC-1+. But if one needed a solution to support only one or two HDMI 2.1 devices (like gaming consoles) and otherwise don't necessarily need 2.1 support across every input and/or output, then the eARC enabled board for the older G3 processors (that don't already have it) could be a viable solution for sure.

I hadn't read about the old HDMI board becoming the property of Emotiva in the exchange, making it mandatory to send in for the swap and a good deal with all the shipping included.
