1. There will be some real news shortly... and, at the moment, the release date is looking quite solid for June. (There will also be some actual pricing and upgrade pricing information coming up shortly.)2. You're not going to see numbers until we get a lot closer - and have final hardware and code. 3. But, as I alluded to, most of the audio spec numbers on our current units are already "better than you can hear", so there's no real reason to even care about improvements there. And, if you want to know how people think they sound compared to products from our competitors, you'll have to wait until a few people listen to them and comment. As I've said before, some folks I talk to say they can't hear any difference, and to them most processors sound about the same... But, of the ones who have compared our processors to other "comparable models", and noticed a difference, usually after they switched to one of ours, virtually every one agrees that our processor sounds audibly better... (But I don't expect you to take my word for that... so you'll have to wait until the reviews and comments start to show up.) 4. The main difference with the new processors will be in terms of features... like HDMI 2.1, and 8k, and the new app... and a whole bunch of stuff like that. (As far as sound quality... they'll still sound better than their competition... but that won't really be news.) That's what we're waiting for Keith. Please give us some real news. I'm growing tired of the bickering about everything but what we should be discussing, and would like to start talking about the next-gen processors. And for someone to start a next-gen owners thread where we can discuss our next-gen processors. Some truth, Keith. Please. Just to be clear, that's June 20204 ??

I am a little late to the party regarding the new G4P processor thread, so please forgive me for not reading every comment that may already answer the questions I am asking. I have an RMC-1 which I purchased in the UK in March 2018, so the warranty on my unit has now expired. A couple of years ago I purchased an extra XLR balanced input board for the expansion slot, which is important to me as I have al Denafrips Terminator 2 DAC , an Oppo UDP-205 AND A Zappiti Signature all of which are utilizing the XLR inputs of the RMC-1.
1. If I traded in my RMC-1 for a new unit, would I have my old unit refurbished and returned with the XLR expansion still in place? Or would I have to remove the expansion unit prior to shipping and re-install into a new G4P Processor?
2. As I am based in the UK, would I have to ship my unit back to USA or somewhere in Europe?
3. Am I correct in assuming the trade in deal offered to the owners based in the US will be the same offered to overseas buyers?
4. Is there a timescale for how long the trade in offer will be available after the launch of the new G4P?

I know you are limited in what you can say, so this is at least news, of a sort. I am a little disheartened though. To paraphrase: we’ll have to wait until June, for upgrades promised to be released last month, but in all likelihood around August, for the addition of 8k (for which there is no demand outside gaming and no available content), an as yet undisclosed “stuff” in order to get a control processor free of the bugs that remain unresolved in the current generation? With an inaudible increase in audio performance? While I might sound a little pissy, I’m likely to upgrade because for all the heartache, this is still the best AV processor for the price, despite my wife’s frustration with having to know how to reboot it. Frequently. I was hoping for a bit more “ra-ra”, Throw us a bone. Will it support HomeKit so in the morning, when my coffee machine wakes up, I’ll wander downstairs with FiP already playing?

So given this, can you address the question of whether current owners of RMC/XMC processors will have to upgrade to get fixes to the well-documented current bugs? Or will we get a firmware release for the current processors with the bug fixes, and just have to upgrade for new features? Many are assuming we'll have to upgrade to get the bug fixes. And many of us may not be interested in upgrading for new features.

As you already know we will be releasing a firmware upgrade for our current XMC-2 and RMC-1/RMC-1L processors at or about the same time as we roll out the new generation of processors. This upgrade will be specifically intended to address as many of the known existing bugs and issues as we are able to.
The new code is partially based on the current code... and we will then be porting anything we can back over to the current units... including the fixes to many current issues. Please note that, since this is all still ongoing, we do not currently have a specific list of what will be fixed, and cannot promise that every known issue will be fixed. 1. There will be some real news shortly... and, at the moment, the release date is looking quite solid for June. Okay friends ... I was just chatting with Keith and he gave me permission to share something that I think many of us will be very happy about.
1 - The "hooks" for DLBC are being implemented in the G4P, and the intent is that DLBC would be supported by the new processors when they are released - with software license purchased separately from Dirac. Not an "official announcement" but this is the intent. Code isn't finished so it hasn't been tested. But work is in progress.
2 - DLBC will NOT be implemented with the firmware update to the current RMC/XMC platform. It will only be available to add to the new processors.
And I'll repeat ... not included for free, but as an optional separate purchase from Dirac for the new processors. As many of you know, DLBC is currently offered at two price points depending on whether you have one or multiple subs.
No word on ART ... many unknowns there, no doubt. One thing at a time. But this sounds like very good news!
And thanks KeithL for sharing!

If KeithL is free to share it, then it is information He should freely share. This is just one more layer of detachment from accountability.

Good news the hooks for Dirac will be included in the G4P. Thanks Keith for the update. Synth sub harmonics is a nice effect feature of the DBX Venue360 ( and others) and various standalone units ( the DBX 510 comes to mind with manual controls) mainly used in clubs and dance/DJ concert setups. The DBX design is nice to use to add brief extra pump when the dance floor is full or the DJ wants the chorus to go lower and harder. It works with cardioid arrays with lots of headroom nicely.

Frankly, I'd given up on Emotiva + DLBC and have been gathering info about other products for making a purchase in a couple months to just to try out DLBC. So now I'll wait.

Would you lose the effect of DLBC if you say used a minidsp with MSO and BEQ and fed it with the DLBC single sub correction? I have a feeling multi sub dlbc would be superior. Thanks for the other news btw.

Thanks for the other news btw. I think this link is a good overview/comparison. I currently use a minidsp but plan to get rid of it if/when dlbc is available as I too believe it’d be the superior option for me - assuming the new g4p has option for 15 speakers PLUS 4 independent sub outs! I have a 9.4.6 setup simplehomecinema.com/2023/07/14/bass-performance-of-audyssey-vs-dirac-live-vs-dirac-live-bass-control-vs-mso/

See Marc's recent post in Dirac thread regarding Dirac filter design. MSO does not offer this level of filter design.
Keith - will G4P design offer configurable channel allocation options? 4 independent 4 channels+ 4 or 6 height and wides etc
I find the MSO method tedious but quite effective and does allow the algorithm to be tweaked so new filters can be generated and thus multiple outcomes can be tried from the same set of recorded values. But tedious 🤪
