I should clarify a statement I made above, the one where I said the FO cable "improved" the video. It really doesn't improve anything, it just doesn't "harm" as much. It allows for more of the full bandwidth to pass with less loss. It's the cables that pass less uncorrupted data which make the video look worse.
Think of it like a volume control, which is only in place to attenuate a signal. Likewise, the more deficient a cable is, the more data is lost, the worse the video will look.

A few weeks ago, I picked up an 8 meter Metra AV VELOX PASSIVE cable for the projector run. It made a decent improvement to the picture. So much so, that I also changed my short run cables to the same. It’s DPL certified. I did a lot of research on the cable, after noticing the improvement. I sent an email to Metra, and they respond by requesting my phone number. I talked to the main guy there for about a half hour. You don’t want these digital cables to make a difference, but in this case it did. Interesting. My theory was that maybe the AVM was giving more voltage (vs. the other devices) to the active cable and so boosting certain video data aspects. Since your cable isn't active that theory can be tossed. I'd have to agree with Geebo in that the Anthem must be doing some kind of processing, OR it has better error correction/handling of the data being transmitted over the cable. Those are the only 2 things I can think of. Working on scheduling a calibration (really recalibration) for the projector, given the difference. Will be interesting to see what how things change.

I have about 10 or so movies on the Athem now. There are 2 things that stand out over the Denon. First, compared to the Denon x3600h (which I still think is really good) the sound is more refined or less “fat”. Second is spacial acuity. I notice much more of a “the sounds come from over there” with the Athem vs. more of a “the sound is coming from that speaker” feeling with the Denon. It also seems to fill in “gaps” with a more rounded presentation. As an example, I hear more sound virtually coming from where the “front wide” speakers would be, even though I haven’t yet add them. The speakers seem to disappear. I assume that is largely attributed to better EQ job of the ARC Genesis software.
