AXPONA 2023 April 14-16
Registration starts December 1, 2022.
Once again I'll be attending all three days. I know some others who will be attending as well.
Q's
Will Emotiva be an Exhibitor?
Will Magnepan allow us riff-raff to enter their secret room?
Will I get the prime rib again?

They had an official room in Toronto. Now, if people would just stop calling that woofer a "sub", that would be great.  |

(curious) That triangular thing that you see in the video image is the open baffle dipole woofer that Magnepan designed to go with the "30.7 for Condos" concept speaker. That system uses this OB woofer in combination with a new (as yet unreleased) midrange panel with ribbon tweeter. Nobody knows actually how low the woofer goes but it almost certainly would need a true subwoofer for the bottom octave. It also must go up to at least 200-300Hz in the For Condos system because that setup has no Maggie woofer panel. So it's incorrect to call it a sub ... but that's what people are compelled to do. BTW, it's no secret that each triangular tower has eight 7" woofers, and being OB dipole it requires some DSP to flatten the response. |

Not sure yet...most likely......I am at a pretty good place audio wise.....may do a PJ upgrade next year or a new 2:40 screen..... |

Not sure yet...most likely......I am at a pretty good place audio wise.....may do a PJ upgrade next year or a new 2:40 screen..... I'm just using it as an excuse to get out of the house, hear some gear (in horribly set up rooms) and have a good time in Chicago proper; whilst trying to keep from getting shot. Scott

Still have family downtown and North of the city in Marengo, Rockford etc. Scott

I plan on being at Axpona but it’s still pretty far in the future so who knows what can change.
I’ll be focused on subs this year. I’m looking for a JL F113 substitute.

Emotiva may have had some differences with the folks who run Axpona during the Covid era where they were really pushing for the show to be on probably due to revenue and Emotiva was concerned about safety first. I’m very interested in subwoofers so I’ll be there. Looking for subs that are as good as JL audio for music but costs a lot less. Or confirm that I need to buy a second JL F113 (most likely used). |
