Had an outstanding time this weekend, mostly due to spending quality time with fellow Loungers marcl, LCSeminole, jlafrenz, tchaik, and the whole Emotiva Crew! A fun time at my house with a few of the guys, and Marc was prepared with some great audio discs that I must get!! It was great to put faces to the names! Team Emo had a nice spread in the Expo room, and gave away an AMAZING amount of raffle prizes! I still have my raffle tickets as souvenirs . I used the 20% Off Discount Code for ordering a HC-1 amp for my center speaker!

Great show, and as Scott said ... great to meet so many folks FTF.

Great to meet new friends(ttocs and marcl) as well as spend time with old friends(jlafrenz and tchaik). The Emotiva staff were wonderful to spend time with, pick their brains and socialize with after the show last night. Thank you Dan, Cathy, Lonnie, Daman, Nick and Kayla, you all continue to be the consummate professionals!!! Scott thanks for introducing me to Chicago style pizza, ie: Giorganos, the pizza's were fantastic, really enjoyed you demoing your Martin Logan setup and thanks to Marc for the Atmos source material. I had a great time, if you find yourselves passing through Tallahassee, you have a standing invitation!!!

My favorite speakers of the show were the MBL Radialstrahler mbl 101 E MK II. While they are not a realistic option for me and my home, they were and still are the best sounding speakers I've heard to date, period. I was most impressed with the new Martin Logan Motion XT line of speakers, the F200 tower speakers sounded phenomenal and that was before I found out the pricing($5500/pair), by far they were the rockstar of the show for me. While I've not been a fan of Yamaha, their new line of integrated amplifiers: A-S3200/A-S2200/A-S1200 were impressive in their presentation and sound when paired with a pair of their NS-5000 speakers. I also was really impressed with the PSB Synchrony T800 towers, the build quality was quite nice and the satin walnut veneer finish was quite attractive, while they had plenty of low end for a two channel setup, I would still recommend a subwoofer to accompany them.

Some things of interest to me are, The Theroretica Applied Physics BACCH 3D Sound. Put ear-plug mics in ears, look forward to middle of stereo speakers and run calibrate sweep, now lean left while still looking to middle and run calibrate sweep, lastly lean to the right and repeat, remove plugs and enjoy a more immersive sound that doesn't move when you move your head. Pretty cool! Something I'm looking forward to, Electrostatic Headphones and a great headphone amp. The headphones are Audeze CRBN ELECTROSTATIC. They sparkle, are smooth, clear, dynamic, simply wonderful when powered by the amp below! My ears just seem to love stats. I listened to the Audeze phones with this amp, the LTA Z10E ELECTROSTATIC HEADPHONE AMP / INTEGRATED AMP. It's a tube amp with speaker outputs and a subwoofer output. Connect a sub while using phones so the bass can be felt as well as heard through the open back stat phones above. I also listened to these but they just didn't sparkle like the Audeze. These are from Dan Clark, they're a new model and I thought I'd get info from the web site but I was wrong, so I don't know the model. The difference between these and the Audeze is not huge, but there is a difference that's noticeable enough with a quick demo. Splitting hairs here, so . . . .

Was there much info about the new generation of processors?
Why is there already a new version of the receiver?

Was there much info about the new generation of processors? Why is there already a new version of the receiver? They had the Gen 4 processor on display. Pictures are on the previous page. The receiver is an addition rather than a replacement. The L has 11 channels but only 9 channels of amplification and quite likely less power per channel.

Yes a lower priced receiver that has the same power per channel all channels driven. It’ll be a better option for me since it’s cheaper.

Glad to be home to MY great-sounding system. Seriously. You can listen to speakers at a show and say one sounds better than another, and in some rooms they may even sound great. But NOWHERE at any show do they address the proverbial elephant in the room ... and that is ... the elephant IS the room! Seriously! I can honestly say I came home to $25k worth of gear ... and in many respects music sounds better in my room than anything I heard at the show. I even made it a point to collect the demo tracks everyone was using by identifying tracks with Shazam and adding them to my Apple Music Library. I just listened to a few and they sound amazing in here too. In particular, as much as I think the Theoretica Applied Physics Bacch SP processor sounds amazing ... I very nearly achieve the same "out of body" soundstage with my speaker placement and room treatment ... and without upmixing. Don't believe me? Come on over sometime

Mind sharing the contents of the playlist? Curious what they were playing as I couldn't attend.

Mind sharing the contents of the playlist? Curious what they were playing as I couldn't attend. Here's a lot of what I captured. They played several tracks from the two Nils Lofgren albums. Oh and of course the Bartok was NOT among the demo tracks ... you'd be hard pressed to get anyone to play classical music at all. And that leads me to the baffling state of audio show marketing ... many, many rooms - especially some VERY high end rooms - played studio produced techno pop tracks. The most boring compressed nonsense that would just drone along at 95db ... in my opinion, basically useless to demo any traits of music reproduction other than the ability to play loud bass. Which I guess is what marketing people think the public wants to hear. They insist "we know what works at a show" ... an hour and a half before the end of each day if you ask for a classical track they say "come back in an hour".

Thanks for sharing... warming up the tube in my Schiit Lyr 3 and will start listening in a bit.
Sad that they consider techno pop as demo material... but to each their own I guess.

Nice commentary by Cynthia the Audio Belle and Tom Martin from TAS. Interesting some of their favorites I thought ... how did I miss that? But that's what happens at a show this size. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIfA5xoooLoWatch at 1.5X speed

I heard it last year and it's an amazing experience. In a small room at moderate volume, it really can't be beat. The soundstage is simply magical! But it's not for higher than moderate volume levels.
