That’s cool! In my former career I had an occasional problem with tubes that contained mercury vapor,( but not audio tubes.) Fluorescent tubes and commercial lighting maintenance. Occasionally, we would get a tube that put on a light show at the filament end and that light would dance around to the point of distraction. Wonderful after breaking down a 30 foot scaffold, only to have to get back up there after the job was finished.

Two new tubes arrived yesterday. I’ll install them this weekend & try again.

Two new tubes arrived yesterday. I’ll install them this weekend & try again. More than likely you had a bad one…. Maybe I missed it but did you try swapping them between sockets? Did only one arc??

Only one arced. I didn't swap them between sockets. It isn't my job to troubleshoot the review gear, and I feared that another arc might damage the speakers (that also don't belong to me).

Of course…..had not thought of what you were doing. Good idea to have a set of in-line fuses for your speaker. Wires used in testing if you have not already done so.
