Esthetically, I like the Peppercorn walls that have more contrast with the Tricorn Black screen wall. But functionally, the darker the better with a projector and screen. How good are your negotiating skills?

How good are your negotiating skills? 100% agreed... wife is already leaning towards Peppercorn with similar comments as yours. Today the walls are painted PPG Hot Stone, which is much lighter than what we're looking at. I painted the doors, door trim and a couple of spots with Tricorn Black on the front wall and the room is already transforming into a cave when the doors are closed, regardless time of time; therefore, I'm thinking either color, would be an improvement... but yes, I 100% agree, Peppercorn might be the ticket. I have a small piece of black velvet on top of the TV stand that I'm temporarily using and the image is already looking better... Current wall color - PPG Hot Stone:

How good are your negotiating skills? Wife picked up Iron Ore and Peppercorn samples... after painting a couple of small sections within the room, she actually prefers Iron Ore.

Picked up the following today... Lutron Caseta wall switch, Lutron outlets (x6) and will be replacing the interior door handle with a satin black lever; leaving the exterior door handle as is... satin nickel. Excellent choices!! I have a couple of black Lutron Caseta switches and all the outlets are black. With black base trim and casings they look really nice.

Thanks Chuck... been using Caseta for years; I find them extremely reliable. We're on the same page... black trim is the plan.

Agreed, I think it's a richer, more dramatic color, and yeah, the darker the better.
I'll have to stop by one of these times when I make a PA to FL trip. I think you're ~2 hours or so away from me in the Fort Myers area. Scott

Agreed... the darker the better and thanks!! For sure... once the room is done you can certainly stop by to take a listen. If you're in the area, PM me as we can at least meet for drinks.

1st coat on this side wall is drying... so be gentle on my painting skills as it's not my strong suit. My son is currently cutting the ceiling and will paint the trim as I don't have the patience nor steady hand; ceiling and trim will be black, so he needs to cut the straight line. I plan to give it an hour or so before I give it a second coat; those metal bars are for the acoustic panels and surround speaker. BTW I hate painting... so to those that paint for a profession, you have my upmost respect and I applaud you!! Wife is digging the colors... she can't wait until it's done and we can sit down to enjoy.

Although extremely tempting... this rather large box needs to sit in the dinning room until the room is painted!!

Although extremely tempting... this rather large box needs to sit in the dinning room until the room is painted!! Nice! Fortunately those things are pretty light. When I got my 77" CX a couple years ago I had a friend come over to help. The big job was moving the incredibly heavy 12 year old 58" Panasonic plasma out of the room! The only thing with these newfangled OLEDs is how kind of fragile they feel moving them. Hope the painting goes well!

I recall the weight on my 58" plasma, these OLEDs are more bulky than anything else; I keep the side styrofoam end panels as it helps stabilize the OLED panel when you need to move them . My son is just as eager as I am, so he'll be helping me carry it into the room once it's ready. As long as schedules align, he's always willing to lend a helping hand... he's still in college.

I gave the ceiling the first coast of Tricorn Black last night; wife took a look this morning and she wasn't digging the look of the front wall and ceiling in black, so she poured me a second cup of coffee and asked if I wouldn't mind painting the ceiling with the wall color, Iron Ore... Reluctantly, but with a smile, I said sure no problem. Just finished the 1st coat of Iron Ore on the ceiling and I agree.. looks better with only the front wall in black. Did a little surgery on the recessed lighting... 2 tiny screws and the entire lens and baffle comes cleanly off. I might spray paint these in a flat black instead of using Iron Ore and a brush, but we'll see how it looks after a second coat. As I type this it's 1:30pm on a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon, once you close the doors, here's what the room looks like. Although it's a room darkening shade with side tracks, there's still some light leakage; I never noticed this before, but the room was never this dark, Some weatherstripping should fix it, but I'll tackle that later. Even with this minor light leakage, it seems pretty dark to me... The faint light spots shown in the below photo are from a computer I left in the back of the room while painting:

Luis, I sprayed the recessed light flanges and the grilles of the top speakers in my theater flat/matte black and they turned out really nice. It's really hard to see the speaker grilles even with the lights on. I'm sure the black would look fine with the Iron Ore ceiling. They look brighter in these pictures than to the naked eye.

I sprayed one with Behr Flat Black spray paint; my wife and daughter prefer it to the one I painted with Iron Ore, so will be spraying them and the HVAC register / return with the Behr spray paint.

In my haste to finish painting, I didn't take additional pictures of the process of taking the recessed lights apart; however, after I removed 2 small screws on the back, the lens, baffle and housing were easily separated. I taped up the LED and electrical parts and sprayed the housing flat black. I gave the lights, HVAC register and vent covers, two coats, allowed them to dry and reinstalled them. Its getting more difficult to take pictures in the room, so pardon my quick iPhone pics.
