I've had the XMC-2 for a few weeks now and want to share my experience.
First some background... I came from a Denon X4500 which I was never really impressed with. Then Emotiva released the MC1 which gave me a chance to get into separates at a reasonable price. I was very happy with the performance, and it was a step above the Denon. I had then been waiting for the new + models to come out before upgrading to an XMC or RMC but the XMC-2 went on sale, and I couldn't pass it up the new price.
The main reason I wanted to upgrade from the MC1 was to be able to run a full 9.1.6 setup. I had not had any expectations of better sound quality outside of some improvements with music and two channel audio. However, the overall upgrade in sound quality has blown my mind. Not only does listening to music sound much better, but what it does for immersive audio is on a whole other level. Speaking of Dolby Atmos specifically, objects are much more fluid and placement of objects in 3D space is much more precise.
Now, there have been a couple of instances where I had to reboot the processor because it got hung up in the Dirac Live setup process and another time where it got hung up when switching inputs. This is a shame but I can live with it for now. I'm not sure what components went into making the MC1, but that had been flawless. Hopefully the new + models will follow suit performance-wise.
To boil it all down, I am super impressed with the XMC-2 and it was a much larger upgrade then I had anticipated. It has breathed new life into my home theater.

I am working on setup up my RMC- 1L and I have everything working except for the subwoofer. I am not getting a subwoofer signal. I have the center sub output set to mono and the left and right set to dual mono. I have bypass my wiring to try to eliminate any potential issues. When I hook my sub directly to the center or left sub output I do not get any sub output. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Could they all be set to large? What about the crossover? How are you testing the subs (what signal)? Are you also saying that when attached to the R Sub out, you do get a signal?

RMC-1 Not Passing Audio in Video Remains On mode.
With the upcoming upgrade, I decided to put my RMC-1 back into my system. I have been trying other units and decided today to put my RMC-1 back into my system. All seemed to go fine, but when I put in the unit in Standby mode, no audio was heard from the tv. Video Remains On is selected in the RMC's menu. The audio is fine when the unit is powered on, but as soon as it is put into Standby mode the audio is lost. I know it must be a simple setting I am overlooking but for the life of me I cannot figure out what it is. I have tried all settings in the tv, Fios set top box, and of course the RMC itself.
Any help and or advice will be much appreciated.
Hello to all and it is good to be back.
Best Regards to all,
Steve A.
EDIT: If not obvious, the video output from the RMC is fine in either Standby mode or when powered on.

All speakers except for the front speakers are set to small. Everything but the front is crossed over at 80hz. I am testing the sub out by hooking my subwoofer directly to the center and have also tried the left subwoofer output. I am testing this with the internal test tones and audio from my Blu-ray player. Neither of them seem to have any output. When it is attached to the right sub output I do not get anything out either.

See if you get output that way.....

EDIT: If not obvious, the video output from the RMC is fine in either Standby mode or when powered on. Is there NO audio or is audio just very low?? If you turn up the volume on your TV when the RMC-1 is in standby in VRO do you get audio? There is a bug in the latest firmware(s) that caused very low volume from TV speakers when processor is set to VRO in standby. One possible fix is to set the source component to pcm, not bitstream or DD. I need to double the volume on my TV's sound bar when I turn my RMC-1L to standby in VRO to get an equal volume level. I don't know if this is your problem or not, but it might be worth checking out.

I don't know if this is your problem or not, but it might be worth checking out. Sincerely appreciate the response. I tried the tv's speaker volume at the beginning. No luck. Before taking my nap today I put the unit in lowest power mode and turned the unit off. I started it again with no apparent change. Put the unit in Video Remains On and then powered down again, flip the power rocker off, and unplugged the power cord. When I got up a while ago, I plugged in the RMC power cord and flipped the rocker switch to on, turned the tv on and could hear what sounded like extremely low audio. I turned the tv volume up from 30 to 60 and there was audio. The unit is working as it should. I believe resetting the RMC and the tv's volume level change did the trick! Audio sounds great and the video does too. Maybe for the above, but the RMC seems to be working better than it every has. Thank you very much for your time and help. Steve

Great to hear that the problem is partially fixed but not really and barely at all, in fact.
You have found your first two bugs (Three if you count the need to reboot this device to get consistent volume levels) The last firmware upgrade was over a year ago and with a new processor coming there is unlikely to be any fix to these or the others!
The need to turn the volume level too high presents as a major issue when the TV is turned to another input and you will get immediate deafening/damaging audio. Good luck with that!

Afraid I spoke to soon. Every time I have turned the tv on by itself today there is no audio. I then turn the RMC on and there is no audio. I have to do a complete power down and reboot of the RMC in order to get any audio. And then I run into the other issues of tv volume, etc. Afraid my RMC is coming out of my system for good. I cannot take this after having near perfect operation from my AVM-70. Will still consider an upgrade after seeing how the early adopters do. I have been stung once to many times by not waiting for things to shake out before jumping in.

The sad thing is that when the RMC works, the audio and video are great! If the issues could be fixed this would be a fantastic machine!

I tried everything that you mentioned but still no sub out. Anymore ideas I should try? Do you know the sub works? Have you heard it? You could run the R or L output to the sub, just to confirm it’s ok.

I tried setting all speakers to small and had the same results Thanks You don't by any chance have have the audio mode set to Reference Stereo, do you? I'm assuming the other speaker channels besides left and right are working correctly?

Do you know the sub works? Have you heard it? You could run the R or L output to the sub, just to confirm it’s ok. Yes I have comfirm the subwoofer works on another system just to make sure. If this were my system, I would do the following using low volume level at first and increasing the volume to an appropriate level - but no higher, then turn down the volume between tests. Always start with a low volume. Pull out ALL cables from the processor, including the power cable. Wait 5 minutes. Plug in power cable, HDMI out to tv, one HDMI cable for a source, and one interconnect cable from the Center Sub Output to subwoofer. Turn on the processor and setup for Small Fronts w/200Hz XO, Small Center w/200Hz XO, Center Sub MONO. Leave the sound mode setup as AUTO. Play 5.1 audio and verify that the processor is showing 5.1 coming in and any surround mode going out. If no sound from Center Sub, perform a Factory Reset, power down, switch off the Rear Power Switch for a couple minutes, power up and repeat the system setup above and then the sound test. If Center Sub output doesn't make any sound, then connect the subwoofer to a Front output and see if there is any sound from the subwoofer. If still no sound from subwoofer, connect a speaker to the Center Sub Output and retest. If no sound from Center Sub Output, try the Left Sub Output MONO and repeat the tests. If there is sound from a Front Channel using a speaker and then the subwoofer but still no sound from Center Sub or Left Sub outputs, then you have confirmation of the subwoofer outputs not working and need to contact Support.
