Ah, ok. Front Panel is the same as Remote, so you're getting the same response from the Menu either way. Sorry you're locked out. bummer. Please let us know what Support tells you. Thanks ttocs, will do. I wonder if rolling back to 3.1 or 3.12b will have the two button reset enabled.

I wonder if rolling back to 3.1 or 3.12b will have the two button reset enabled. A good thought, but the problem is there is no Setup in the Menu choices, so no chance to load firmware unless Setup and Advanced are available.

Thanks for the clear video and instructions. I'm not a mind reader nor did I sleep at a Holiday Inn, but I think what you were attempting to do by locking your settings would be better accomplished by backing up your settings in the advanced setup section. They can be backed up both internally or on a thumbdrive. I suggest both, but I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy. You may find with the new processor that you will change your settings fairly often as you learn more about its capabilities and quirks. And the members here and the techs at Emotiva are willing to help when needed. Don't hesitate to ask.

Purchased an RMC1 on June 1, 2024. Have set it up as follows: Connection | Source | Target | Target Mode |
---|
1 | Oppo 203 audio only HDMI out | Bryston BDA 3.14 HDMI4 in | PCM/DSD |
---|
2 | Cocktail X45 USB 2 out | Bryston BDA 3.14 USB 2 in | PCM |
---|
3 | Bryston BDA 3.14 Balanced Out | RMC1 Balanced In | Reference Stereo |
---|
4 | Cocktail X45 HDMI out | RMC1 HDMI1 in | For Video Only |
---|
5 | Oppo 203 main HDMI out | RMC1 HDMI5 in | Auto |
---|
6 | Apple TV 4K HDMI out | RMC1 HDMI6 in | Auto |
---|
7 | Sony 4K TV HDMI arc | RMC1 eArc in | Auto |
---|
When playing stereo music, I usually use connection 3 (RMC1 Balanced In) in Reference Stereo mode. No problems here.
When playing multi-channel SACD, I usually use connection 5 (RMC1 HDMI5 In) in Auto mode. RMC1 automatically switches to Surround/DSD and plays fine. When playing a movie disc, I use connection 5 (RMC1 HDMI5 In) in Auto mode. If the movie has a DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD track, however, I have the problem listed below:
The problem
With connections 5,6,7 the RMC1 switches to Surround/PCM when the corresponsing input is initially selected. The RMC1 fails to switch to the correct codec (DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD), and I get no sound. The RMC1 usually reports Surround/PCM 5.1 - sometimes Surround/PCM 2.0 or Surround/PCM 0.0
To fix this, I have to reboot the RMC1 (rear switch off, wait 15 seconds, rear switch on). The movie plays correctly after that. I can even play a second movie, and the RMC1 correctly plays. But, if I play stereo music using connection 3 (RMC1 Balanced In) in Reference Stereo mode and then play a movie, the problem comes back. This is reproducable.
Update 07/28/2024: I was successfuly playing multiple 4K movies on connection 5 (Oppo 203) - all in DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD. Then switched to connection 6 (Appl TV 4K), and the same problem arose - I had to reboot the RMC1. It seems that any time I switch to an RMC1 HDMI input different from the previous RMC1 input, I have to reboot the RMC1 to get Sourround/DTS-HD MA or Surround/Dolby TrueHD or Atmos/Dolby TrueHD.

How do you have the HDMI 5 input set up with regards to defaults for 2.0 and 5.1 modes? I just tried playing something from my XDA-3 via Balanced In and switched to Reference Stereo. I switched to the Oppo 203 and played a Dolby Atmos encoded movie and it switched and played just as it should. Note that I do not use the HDMI Audio Only port on my Oppo 203.

No sound from RMC-1 XLR outs. What can be the reason? I havent been using my HT for 2 weeks and today there is no sound. From sources and from level check menu. Speakers and amps are ok, when i connected source (Dune 4K Max Vision) direct to amp - sound was ok. Did factory settings reset - no sound ((( Please help me to find out what is the problem.

Just to eliminate something did you try to disconnect the Audio Only out from the back of the Oppo and try again? Are you using CEC? I had strange things happen until I added some pin13 eliminators and I actually had CEC turned of at the source devices.

I use CEC between the Sony TV and RMC1. I really need it to make wife happy. Have CEC turned off on the Oppo. Will try disconnecting Audio Only from Oppo. I just spent a lot of time getting Tidal to work on the Apple TV 4K.

Today, I shut my RMC-1L down completely for an hour and re-start again. Because of that "Metallic Noise" mixed with passthrough HDMI signal which circuit is activated when use VRO mode, it is using for Apple TV 4K. VRO mode must be on because when I'm away from home and any family member want see it, just turn Apple TV on without touch RMC and then it worked. Simple purpose. This "Metallic Sound" problem is reported EMO years ago, dozen time, through ticket, and even mentioned on this forum many times, but nobody (especially EMO) pay any attention perhaps they only focused on G4P and our RMC series are already forgotten model. This problem came seldomly, and it became more frequently, and then now, I have to turn my RMC for 5min in order to fix this problem every 2 or 3 days, sometimes every night. I am very tired of it. Seriously, EMO should fix this daily base problem for users, huh? Turn off, factory reset, got no help. It always come back. Always! I want hear what about it from EMO, there was nothing new firmware nor improvement, whatever evidence that EMO does not forgot our RMC series since last firmware released(it was over year ago, I recall). At least they have to care about this "small glitch", perhaps it isn't that small glitch after all?

Take this with a grain of salt, but Emotiva has said that they will release a final firmware update for the older processors that "should" fix a lot of the issues we're having.
Fingers crossed...

Thanks for EMO members who works hard to fix all those problems of RMC and XMC which is still their "Flagship" processor, since it is roll out. But same time I feel sorry for them that I have to say "There is not too much improvements that I can admit except Remote control response delay" by pure-just-dunno what is av-kinds of consumer's eye. We are all not just consumer after all. We knew many and learned lots of things while struggle with this... flagship processor. However I just want "good device" for fun and relax, not for struggle nor annoying nor study. I've spitted out countless times "Oh my, again?" or "What the ****" over 3 years. None of my family member understood why this machine does not work as it should until Firmware 3.2, still don't. Since 3.2, I admit that that lots of bugs were fixed, but on the other hand, small and simple(in my point of view) bugs like this still there. I hope EMO finally introduce countless-annoying-bugs-free version of Firmware at the end. As you said, finger crossed. double, triple crossed. toe crossed as well. On the other hand, EMO perhaps not fix every annoying bugs for RMC because, they have to sell G4P which has less buggy then RMC. Seriously?

The Kazoo digital noise issue is one of the three irritating traits I hate the most. Is it reasonable to trust a company who can't / won't sort out basic functioning of their current processors after 5 years to provide properly functioning "next generation" ones? A cheap upgrade from my poorly functioning and seemingly unfixable XMC-2 to an unknown G4P does not seem like a good deal.

Hello, I have the problem that the sound from red book cd via HDMI, from my Audionet VIP G3, Denon 3910, 4010 and DVD-A1UD, goes on and off again and on and off again... I have tried HDMI 1.4 and 2.0. CD playback works just via optical. Is this a known problem? Has anyone connected a player to the RMC via HDMI and not had this problem? I have RMC-1 FW 3.2 and an old board without eARC. Thanks for your support
Best regards Markus

Hello AudioHTIT, thanks for the feedback. Which firmware do you have? Transferring CD signals should not really be a problem. I therefore hope that it is not a defect. The playback of PCM 7.1 92khz 24 bit works perfectly. I would like to open a service ticket. Can Emotiva only do this by telephone? I'm from Germany. I am a bit disappointed with the Emotiva service!
Best regards Markus
