Hello AudioHTIT, thanks for the feedback. Which firmware do you have? Transferring CD signals should not really be a problem. I therefore hope that it is not a defect. The playback of PCM 7.1 92khz 24 bit works perfectly. I would like to open a service ticket. Can Emotiva only do this by telephone? I'm from Germany. I am a bit disappointed with the Emotiva service! Hello, I have the problem that the sound from red book cd via HDMI, from my Audionet VIP G3, Denon 3910, 4010 and DVD-A1UD, goes on and off again and on and off again... I have tried HDMI 1.4 and 2.0. CD playback works just via optical. Is this a known problem? Has anyone connected a player to the RMC via HDMI and not had this problem? I have RMC-1 FW 3.2 and an old board without eARC. Thanks for your support Best regards Markus Could you please explain your connections in detail. A little more info on your setup would be helpful. Do you have 4 different disc players connected by hdmi to 4 different inputs in the Emo processor? Or did you try 4 different players into the same hdmi input on the processor? Did you try a different cable? Do the players play other media (DVD, BR< SACD...) OK? Do you have CEC turned on?

Thanks! I tried DVD, Bluray, SACD with different resolutions, all works perfect.I tried different Inputs and different cables, older to 8k.I have tried all the player settings. CEC is all deactivated. There is no email on the Emotiva support page. You should call them or post your questions here in the forum. I find the Emotiva engineers only respond to questions that they can answer directly, they show little interest in approaching a problem systematically and logically. I have posted dozens of bugs here and none of them have been classified as known. Personally, I'm afraid there are reasons for this. But I haven't lost all hope in this forum yet. Best Regards Markus
Edit: At this point, I would like to correct my statement regarding Emotiva support. I had wrongly assumed that this forum also has an official support function. I have opened a support case with Emotiva Support. I get very good support there. The engineers are very interested in the problem and try to solve it with logical approaches. I wish other companies had such good support.

I also find it worth mentioning that if the sound goes on and off every second, I can't switch to another input on the RMC. This only works after I have stopped the CD.

I must also say that the tip with the "international" support site was successful. I am already in contact with your colleague Jake. As an automation engineer, I am painfully aware of the problems with incompatibilities. Perhaps I wish I could enjoy my valuable hobby after work without having to deal with similar problems as in my profession. Emotiva is honored that one of your devices has found its way into my AudioNet chain. Apart from the software problems, the sound is at a very high level. I'm looking forward to the upcoming updates.

Best regards Markus I am on beta firmware 3.32, I am reasonably certain it is not the solution to your problem, as I’ve always been able to play CDs on my 203 via HDMI (as well as S/PDIF-Coax and analog). I would send an email to open a support ticket, I’ve always had good luck with ‘sales@emotiva.com’ (also see Keith’s post). However, I was able to possibly duplicate what you’re experiencing by hitting fast fwd on my remote, while a CD was playing normally. It then went in to a repetitive on / off audio condition while playing the song, and I think I had to hit Stop, then Play to get out of that state. Can you post a recording of what your system sounds like when it’s doing what you describe? Edit: Looks like you’ve made a support contact.

Best regards Markus Markus, once upon a time… I had a problem with one of my sources and Emotiva told me this: you can try to change the HDMI input you’re using with the problematic device. Connect it to input 3 instead of 1, and try again. By me it has worked. I have a 203 and a 820. I had to change the input for my 820. And now it works. You also have the possibility to do a hdmi hard reset. Disconnect all hdmi cable. Disconnect all power supply of the devices. Wait 10 minutes. Reconnect, repower, and try… 🤷🏼♂️

In fact, as recommended elsewhere, I always connected the processor first and then the source device. As I said, I had already tried various players on different inputs with different cables. It's a bit crazy, as all other formats work.

Best regards Markus Since your issue is mainly with playback of redbook CDs, have you tried setting the " 2.0 Mode" (see image below) of each effected HDMI input to " Stereo"...? If not, it might be worth a try.

First of all, many thanks to everyone If I'm understanding correctly the RMC is showing the incoming stream as TrueHD and the surround mode is showing as Atmos. If that's the case then it's normal behavior. From Sound and Vision:"While Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD are two separate soundtrack formats, Atmos data on Ultra HD Blu-ray is actually an extension to TrueHD that is folded into the bitstream to maintain backwards compatibility. Here’s how that works: If you play a disc with an Atmos soundtrack, the Atmos extension data is decoded by an Atmos-compatible receiver. If your receiver isn’t Atmos compatible, the extension data is ignored and the soundtrack is decoded as regular Dolby TrueHD."
So when you play an Atmos Blu-Ray the incoming bitstream is TrueHD with Atmos folded in. The RMC correctly identifies the incoming as TrueHD and then correctly decodes it as Atmos.

I've got answer from EMO concerning Apple TV digital noise while using VRO mode. This is first time I receive "Solution" for this problem, however, it is impossible to 100% prevent this error. It said because of Apple's specific PCM "signature" makes processor lost clock. Maybe Roku also have similar PCM "signature" then...? This is what I've got from EMO:
Unfortunately, Apple has a specific PCM "signature," and the DSP will sometimes miss the clock, resulting in robotic digital noise.
Here are some steps to follow:
1a.) Back out of the current show you are viewing and start up another one (preferably an ATOMS show). You can also navigate the home menu until you hear the navigation bips in the speakers then start the show again. (1b. OR set the output of the Apple TV to Dolby Digital; you will lose ATOMS with this setting. This is probably not preferable) 2.) Powering on and powering off technique works also 3.) If the processor is on and you are viewing content, you can change the sound field mode to another and back, and it will correct.
Unfortunately, that is the only fix at the moment. I am hopeful the new revamp code will fix this issue.
Thanks for this answer, EMO, however, in my case, only effective solution is, No.2, power cycle. Change sound fields, change sound mode from ATMOS to Dolby Digital does nothing with this error. I did it already couple times without any success. This error is start when RMC is wake up from standby mode, but not always. I can't pinpoint exactly in what cases this problem starts.
Unfortunately, it could not be fixed by final firmware unless final firmware uses completely re-programmed amps and DSP codes.... Probably I will have this error until my RMC is gone.... I will ask it again to EMO and if there is any positive news about last firmware, I will post it here again.

changing the sound mode from DolbyDigital to dts and back to DolbyDigital helps every time, if the "digital noise" apears. But it is quiet rarely apearing!

Some of sound error i.e sound is totally broken so only noise can hear or, no sound at all, can be fix as you said. I also sometimes got this happens, then simply change sound mode to stereo or direct and auto. But this "High-pitched digital noise" mixed with original sound problem can not be fixed whatever I did. What I've tried to fix this problem is 1) sound mode change, as you suggest, 2) change source and back to ATV, 3) stop current play and play other type of stream(Atmos to 5.1 or vice versa) 4) factory reset 5) factory reset and restore, all no cure at all. Only and unique solution for this is processor power cycle. Once DSP got mismatched PCM signal clock sync, this DSP can not be reset except power cycle, I think. And this digital noise, perhaps it caused by signal on and off (ATV ON / OFF) while using VRO mode (DSP is always ON, and somehow DSP chip lost / miscalculate signal clock when signal is ON/OFF), I guess... I will test another way, which I never did before, is that disconnect ATV HDMI cable(no clock, totally lost signal for DSP), and change sound mode this and that, and connect HDMI again, and test it. This way is more quicker than power cycle (if it works) And, when I turned off VRO, this error never comes up. But I must use VRO.... What EMO suggest through email is that I can turn off Dolby Atmos feature of Apple TV. I won't do that, haha Hopefully, finger crossed, final firmware can fix this problem.

Your processor surely is most troubled one if you really have all those problem together. Today I just confront same digital noise problem when I come back home. It is about 5 days after I cold boot my RMC-1L. As I mentioned my last post, there is new method to fix this problem that I believed it might work, and it worked indeed. No need cold boot, just disconnect ATV HDMI(it is easy to disconnect HDMI from ATV than HDMI from processor), and change source to OPPO, and play Atmos movie from it and change sound to Dolby 5.1, and connect HDMI to ATV, select ATV source, and turn off RMC so RMC will enter VRO mode, digital noise disappeared!!! I tried this because, if this problem is really caused by ATV PCM signal clock, best way to set DSP to re-align clock is that total disconnection from troublesome HDMI so DSP lost all link and sync from it, and play other source will make DSP to forget about ATV side clock. After that I connect ATV again so DSP can re-establish clock sync with it, so problem could be fixed, is what I thought, and it worked. If this problem again next time, I will just disconnect ATV HDMI and change source to other, and just connect ATV again and select source ATV again, simple, perhaps it also might do the job. Just I don't play other source so DSP state will not change, so I will find whether it work or not (probably not).

All my sources are digital disc, computer stored audio files through DAC, and analog LP. Right now, my DAC isn't connected to the RMC-1L.
