Regarding HDMI problems with fiber cables...
Perhaps it's coincidence, but the day before Emotiva released the 3.1 firmware update, JVC released a new firmware for their laser projectors. Just as the Emotiva firmware was highly anticipated, so was the JVC as it offers additional video options related to aperture settings and laser dimming. Now for the coincidence, there are multiple complaints on the AVS Forum of HDMI inputs not working on the projectors after the firmware updates. Most, if not all, are running long fiber cables that are self-powered. And many are Ruipro branded cables. JVC has preliminarily reported that some of the Ruipro cables were too hot..too much voltage going to the HDMI board and shutting it down. I don't pretend to understand the electronics, but apparently JVC is recommending the use of an inserter or injector at the projector end of the HDMI cable that supposedly limits the voltage output of the cable. The other thing suggested is that the HDMI cable be disconnected from the projector during the firmware update.
What does all this have to do with the reported HDMI issues after the G3P firmware updates? I don't know and hope that someone smarter than me can determine if there might some commonality in the two reported firmware update problems.
I was fortunate to complete both updates without issue. I have a 15' Techlogix 8K fiber cable from the XMC-2 to the projector and copper cables from the sources to the processor. And I did each update with only the component being updated powered on and with all cables attached.
Bottom line for me is positive outcomes in performance improvements in both components. And I'm sorry for those that have experienced disappointment.

I do hope it comes back totally refreshed. Maybe even to meet my new projector, though given the back-order status, I think this might be wishful thinking for the moment. What are you getting?

OK, I think I've got it. You have a mute stutter at the beginning of a track that wasn't there before. I think we need to look at the mute timing again. Sorry for the issue. we will dig into this. Lonnie Yes. Thanks Lonnie. Now about the missing Center Height channels... BTW, I never had four arms, but, in my ancient martial arts days, I did have pretty good forearms. I think it was the knuckle push-ups that did it. When I flexed them my daughter would say "ew dad, that's ugly!". So I saw that and to be honest we have not seen it here. Please do me a favor and send an email with as much info about how your system is configured and we will see if we can recreate it. Thanks, Lonnie

Seeing a lot of discussion around cables again and them possibly causing some of the gremlins we are seeing.
FWIW when I first built the room a couple of years ago I purchased two types of cables and have had absolutely no problems at all. - Device (MacPro, Apple TV, Oppo 203, Nvidia Shield 2019, etc) to RMC-1 = 2m Belkin UHD HDR 8K Braided Cable - RMC-1 HDMI-OUT-Port2 to JVC NX9 Projector = HDMI Fibre Optic Cable Ruipro 8K to 48 Gbps - 10m (no injector)

The CD audio bounce issue is new for me, after FW3.1, and I haven't seen a post about it from anyone else. This problem has not occurred for me in the entire time I have owned and played CD's; some 40 years. Post FW3.1 update, it is happening with all my players. I think it is reasonable to suspect the RMC and FW3.1 update. CD update - Now playing "Christmas with the Cambridge Singers" COLCD 111, on the Sony 800M2 player. disc has about 2 sec of silence at track beginnings. No audio bounce. I tried to duplicate this with my Oppo 203, I played three different CDs; one old and Christmassy — “Merry Christmas from the Beach Boys” (as much as I like the Beach Boys I really can’t listen to this album, so indeed a special occasion); one new (Porcupine Tree “Closure / Continuation” - 2022); and one requiring gapless playback (Todd Rundgren’s “A Wizard a True Star”). I was not able to duplicate the muting at the beginning of each track, with AWATS I did get a slight pop before the first track, but it did not cut off the first note. It will be interesting to see if any CDs don’t mute on your system. Is there any setting I might be missing that you’re using?

I think the VPL-VW325ES Getting a little "friends of Sony" discount. It's not much but it helps. This thing is decent spec but lacking set-up bells and whistles.

I need to play some more CDs, and look at my settings. When a CD has a couple of seconds of recorded silence at the beginning of a cut, I don't hear the mute. I don't know how our settings differ. It's been so long since I looked at my own settings that I'm not sure what I have. Lonnie thinks this is a mute timing issue. I'll study this more and report back. I'll bet most groups under contract were obligated to make a Christmas album. Least wise in the past. Most shouldn't have made one. I saw Todd Rungren at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. He opened for Jeff Beck... In 1972 Thanks again, and for enduring and testing the Beach Boys Christmas album. Sounds like the Beach Boys were not making Good Vibrations with this album. A heavily spiked eggnog for you!

FWIW - the new FW3.1 now makes some CD's skip. Sound-silence-sound; on startup and track-to-track. Thanks EMO. You can't even make a CD play properly. This used to happen only on ATMOS and DTS:X discs. SMH... "It's A New World"! I haven't tried playing the actual CDs, but I too experience this exact same behavior with several Vietnamese CDs converted to FLAC playing through the Oppo 103 via Samba. I didn't notice this issue with firmware 2.5.

The first LP I bought in 1963 was The Beach Boys “Little Deuce Coupe”, I had all their albums shortly after, my first favorite band, short lived with the arrival of the Beatles (but yes, they didn’t need a Christmas album in my book). I’ve seen Todd a few times over the years, ‘72 would have been the Something / Anything period with his biggest hit “Hello It’s Me”, AWOTS followed and hooked me. And saw Jeff Beck open for Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) for some odd little similarities.

I can also replicate the muting issues from any digital source (HDMI, Optical In, USB Stream).
Pausing any audio track for approx 2 seconds will reproduce the mutting problem.
I haven't yet reproduced the issue with analog input from the ERC-1.
Edited for correction

Been update FW 3.1 on my 2.5 system with 8.x HDMI board installed. Follow all instructions which is on firmware board, follow all those labeled "Must done for this special update". Seriously, no issues. Just "Rebuilding Font" twice during cold reboot, it is gone when set VRO ON. It only took full 30 min for finish and restore backup settings from USB stick.
No clicks or pops when SACD playing from my OPPO 203, through HDMI 3, DSD 5.1 and DSD 2.0. No clicks or pops when DSD file playing through network as OPPO 203 as DLNA renderer, via JRIVER on Raspberry Pi, next or previous track, no loss audio. No any suspecious blackout or no audio delay on play blu-ray disks with PCM 2.0, Dolby 5.1, Dolby ATMOS contents. Just a bit delaying for HDMI handshaking during change audio or video format, through HDMI 1, Apple TV 4K 2022 version with TvOS 16.x beta firmware. But because of this handshaking issue, Netflix movie's significant ta-da sound and "N" logo animation is totally loss because short blackout for video and audio during handshaking but not a big deal, no pops or clicks while fast forward or rewind video from point to point. It produces loud pops when FW 2.5 with Apple TV+ contents. No ovious problem while playing balanced analog in, which connected my Chord DAC. I use "Stereo" mode with only front L+R speaker assigned, with Dirac EQ enabled, sound as good as always. BUT reference stereo mode - which I was mainly use before when I don't use Dirac enabled stereo mode - sound very, very weird now. Really not like under FW 2.5. It was just less precise then Dirac enabled stereo mode when FW 2.5 was using, but now it sounds just CRAP. I don't know what causes this Reference Stereo mode getting ugly and sound like 10-bucks transistor radio like. Singer voice is like scattering hear and there, instruments placing oddly and really unlistenerble, like speaker phase is messed, Bass is almost missing.... Nowadays I normally don't use Reference Stereo Mode anyway, but found this problem just test for new 3.1 FW... a bit feel troubling and don't like it at all.
I will do test my CD instead of SACD for check if any sound mute problem is there, like some others said. But now Bluray via HDMI 3, Apple TV via HDMI 1, HTPC via HDMI 4, DAC via XLR IN, LP via RCA 1, seems all works fine as it should. Under VRO sound passthrough, I don't see any less volume problem... it is as same as before.... Network is on manual static setting, not DHCP enabled, it is ok but no remote app is find my RMC-1L under same Wifi connection router/switch. It is like this since FW 2.0, I don't care because I don't use remote app anyway, Harmony is working nicely all the time.
I will check and more intense test today, and will post it if there is another problem is discovered. Only my unsatisfied and disappointing point is that Reference Stereo Mode turns bad. Any idea for this? (I don't use wide channel for Bi-amping because it messes up all blanced in analog audio, I know it since the beginning.... I specially assign only front LEFT & RIGHT 2 speakers, full-range, no SUB, no other speakers for stereo mode) Any suggestions, ideas, tips welcome anytime.
**ADDED : No ARC or CEC test at all because I drop all ARC craps long time ago.... it is mess and very troublesome all the time.

The album is in great shape. I haven't played it in 40 years. I pulled it out to play later today. Thanks for the walk down musical memory lane.

Excellent write up and I appreciate the detailed comments and notes. We did make some changes to how Reference stereo works and I thought we got it write, but perhaps there was an edge case we missed. When you use reference stereo, are you running analog, digital audio or HDMI as the source input? What was the previous sound field mode you were running before switching to reference stereo and can you tell me what is your speaker config so we can try to replicate it here? Thank you and best regards, Lonnie

Anyone else having issues with button assignments?
I assign HDMI ARC to button 1, the menu setup accepts it, yet eventually it’s gone and replaced with another source (what was previously on button 3)
It seems my system after 1/2 dozen FW flashes is becoming more stable, but losing the most used button and having to scroll through inputs results in a system lock/freeze.

With all due respect you should never need to flash a unit multiple times. Sometimes you get an error during a update and a reload of the code is needed, but if you have to do it multiple times, then that points to deeper issues that we should take a look at. In regards to the hot keys. That is all software driven. When you assign a hot key to a specific input, that key value is loaded into a look up table. The values of the lookup table should never change on their own because the code is written in such a way that it can only be changed when a very specific sequence of events occurs. All that being said, if a hot key moves around on its own or changes and you didn't tell it do so, then we definitely have deeper issues to look into. On the surface it sounds like you might have a bad memory chip, which could be the root of all your problems. I would like to suggest you contact us so we can arrange to get it in here and do a deep dive. I would love to get this taken care of for you. Lonnie

Thanks Lonnie, I figured it was going to end up going back. It's already been back once for zone 2 static issues (that was fixed) so perhaps this unit just needs an overhaul. I'll call to coordinate.
Thanks again for reaching out.
