That's normal with this FW. geebo is correct, the HDMI file being used confirms this. If the HDMI file is “8.1 20/09/28” then the older 4K board is being used. If the HDMI file is “12.25 22/10/10” then the newer “eARC” 4K board is being used. Not sure of the exact dates, but I’m thinking if you bought your XMC-2/RMC-1L/RMC-1 after January 2022, then most likely your processor came with the hardware changed HDMI board that supports “eARC” which will be supported in an upcoming future firmware.

Yep I know I was just saying that my one Rmc-1 is showing the loading Fonts on a cold boot and one is not. Exactly, the processors with the older 4K HDMI boards are the ones with the Fonts loading every cold boot. The processors with the newer 4K HDMI boards that are “eARC” capable are NOT loading the Fonts except for the initial cold boot after loading the new v3.1 firmware. Emotiva is aware of the font loading problem and I’m sure working on a fix as we type.

HDR10+ is a feature of the new TV4KG3, so some may be having the ability to see this for the first time (not me).

I am between houses at the moment so everything is in storage for another month or so. However, nothing I've seen here encourages me to do anything with CEC/ARC except keep it firmly off. It's a universal cluckfuster IMO, and the resources being consumed trying to get these processors working adequately with such a dog of a technology annoys me. My advice is get an internet video streamer, neuter your smart TV and invest in a decent universal remote (or use the 10 that came with your various equipment, that seems preferable to relying on 10 different implementations of a non-standard standard).
YMMV.

… SA-CD Issue with click/pop sound when stopping/ejecting the disc. … Didn’t know that one but confirmed pop using Oppo 203 with SACD Multi (DSOTM) when stopping (pausing ok). Did not get a pop on eject, but did when I hit play and it resumed (just before the music restarted) and after the last track played. Hard one to test … had to listen to the whole album!

While I just confirmed what you both are experiencing with the pops with SACD's using the UDP-203, I also find it intriguing that when I play the same SACD's with the BDP-83, I don't get ANY pops period. So is it the muting circuits in the players or the G3P's ?

I’m not 100% sure but it looks like HDR10+ might work with this update. My Apple TV is displaying this. I’ll test later with my Bluray Player. Edit: I can confirm HDR10+ now works. I tested this using the Spears & Munson UHD HRS Benchmark Blu-ray Disc. Dave. I was not aware it was broken. Was this a known issue? HDR10+ never worked on any firmware. I guess it was simply overlooked during the development of these processors. I pointed this out on another thread a long time ago (maybe 2 years) and Keith responed at the time. Brent also confirmed via email last week it was something they were looking at for FW3.x. As I have a Samsung TV HDR10+ was something I was interested in. Cheers, Dave.

Dave, not sure you are aware but if didn't know, the latest ATV4K(3rd gen) that released a few weeks ago also supports HDR10+.

Very little experience with this firmware so far, but what I have noticed is that the pops and loud snaps I used to get seem to be gone.. in their place is a way more acceptable "bump" (not quite a thump) but it doesn't make me wince when I hear it, like the snaps used to.
I experienced "full volume" issue with previous firmware versions, about once every 5-6 weeks... hopefully that's gone now! With the amount of amplification I have behind my speakers right now, full volume is bloody scary! If anyone else experiences this, let me know.
The fonts loading... had to sell my spouse on that one before updating. I explained "we will have a new problem that at worst means even longer boot times, *BUT* we will have less of the lockups, snaps/pops, and occasional robotic sounds" He was on board. Fortunately, he races and collects cars, so my analogy that the XMC-2 is an older Italian car worked out really well for us. "Occasionally finicky, definitely quirky, sometimes exasperating, but when it works well, it, and the sounds it makes, are glorious"

Very much appreciate your response. I bought the cable in question, recommend by Emotiva, to remove any potential issue from the chain. I was suspicious that it could be a cable bandwidth related issue, but I deferred to Emotiva's advice to at least take this off the table as a culprit. I have your issue with my XMC-2 and my Epson 4000 which is a similar 1080p projector as your 5020. I got this issue when I upgraded my XMC-1 to the -2. I doubt it's your cable but, assuming you haven't tried it yet, just move your RMC next to the projector (or it's probably easier to move the projector next to the RMC) and test with a few 4k short HDMI cables. If that doesn't work, have you tried just hooking up a 4k capable TV instead of the Epson for testing purposes? I would bet that would work and I'll explain what I think is happening. I have 2 4K capable sources - my HTPC and my Roku - both gave me the same error on my Epson as what you are getting (my BR player is BR only, not 4k BR's); my non-4k sources were fine. It appears that those devices negotiate a 4k connection with the XMC-2/RMC regardless of whether I had the HDMI set to 1.4 or 2, and regardless of whether I watched non-4k material on either device. The XMC/RMC then wants to pass that 4k connection to the Epson. When I had the XMC-1, they couldn't negotiate a 4k connection because I never upgraded it to the 4k HDMI board. I went into the Roku's settings and forced it to output 1080p and it worked. For the HTPC, I could not figure out how to force the Radeon card to 1080p, and believe me I tried. I then just downgraded the video card to a older 1080p only card I have and my problem was solved. I noticed all of the Bluray players you tested with were 4k capable, so I would try going into their settings and force them to 1080p only and then see. Or get a 1080p only BR player and see if that works (borrow from a friend). In theory, the 1.4 HDMI setting should solve your problem as that's what Emo told me would fix mine, but it didn't. I let them know my results, so they're aware but I imagine they're not doing any work on their 1.4 setting code for obvious reasons. You may still have to play the disconnect/reconnect/power cycle game on the various devices in your chain even after forcing your source to 1080p output only to get it to work, since that's due to other bugs, but it should eventually work. That's why I think if you borrowed a 4k capable TV and tried it in lieu of the Epson, just for troubleshooting purposes, it would work. Trued all the solutions you suggested. I've been through about every parameter possible. Baffling.

HEADLINE November 16, 2022
We have just released firmware version 3.1 which includes SIGNIFICANT improvements in many areas.
In honor of this event we're starting a new thread...
RMC-1 / RMC-1L / XMC-2 OWNERS THREAD (post Firmware Version 3.xx)
It's a new world !
Welcome aboard !
After fonts loading, unit shut off but does not reboot. I wait 10mins, hit power switch on back, wait 60secs turn switch on. Unit powers on then goes back to loading fonts again and turns off. Can not get out of the cycle ?!?

Just updated my RMC-1L Firmware to 3.1… From what I can see, so far, you found the right tech for the job… I’m using a FireTv cube for my main source of TV viewing… Prior to this update I was constantly loosing sync with the volume control… The work around was to power down the processor or power cycle FireTv… That bug appears to be gone… I am looking forward to the EARC update… Keep doing what you are doing! I’ve been an electronics tech since the late 70’s… I am impressed.

Some very slight quieter pops and clicks but vastly improved with audio lock. Not enough time to see if the complete audio drop out experienced with Disney+ requiring power off is resolved. How has Disney+ been working since the update? I think this is the primary one that still hoses up our system on occasion.

VRO mode still locks everything up for me. I’m sorry if you’ve elaborated on this before, but does the processor actually ’lock up’ so you have to power it off? If you’ve posted about it can you point me to it? I did post about this awhile back but didn't go into too much detail. VRO works fine as long as I don't change inputs. Doing so will just sit at "no signal". All buttons are then unresponsive until I unplug the unit and plug back in. I then have to set it back to LPM and everything works as it should. One thing I didn't check after installing the update was to make sure CEC is off. I'll check later and see if that makes any difference.

Hey NicS, I just put 2 and 2 together. I was going back through our previous discussion and I don't see where I mentioned the cable, can you remind me please? I would appreciate it. Lonnie Lonnie, I looked back trough my emails. It was actually Brent who recommended the cable: RUIPRO 8K Fiber Optic HDMI Cable 48Gbps 8K / 60Hz 4K / 120Hz Dynamic HDR eARC HDCP2.2/2.3 I saw on the HDFury forum that the active RUIPRO HDMI cables require a ton of power from the HDMI port on the source side, which may be more than the pre/pro can provide. I had very similar problems with a different HDMI 2.1 cable. I got the device linked below and my HDMi problems all went away. I suggest you try it out before sending your pre/pro back to Emotiva. Since returns are free at Amazon its risk free to try it out. RUIPRO 8K 4K HDMI USB Power insertor Female HDMI to Male HDMI 5V Power Connector (SN5VHDMI) a.co/d/awIid4k
