Trued all the solutions you suggested. I've been through about every parameter possible. Baffling. Did you try it with an actual 4k TV, or any other TV besides the Epson projector?

So upgraded to 3.1. The process was painless and quick. So far: - I have the older HDMI board so am afflicted with the installing fonts issue on startup. No big deal just takes a little longer to boot - I didn't have HDMI issues prior to 3.1 and it looks like no issue post but then again I don't use things like ARC etc - I have a 9.1.6 install * I did not have the missing top middle speaker issue previously mentioned and all channels were fine except..... * I did have missing sound on the SW channel (I have single SW out going to a miniDSP Flex then to 4 x SW). - I still have pops and clicks (the loud, worrying type) when there is a change in audio format - they may occur a little less (maybe?) but too early to tell - it feels snappier in using menus on screen - haven't finished testing
WRT to the SW channel missing sound issue I used internal tones, and external test tones to test the RMC-1 with no luck: - I tried changing speaker preset from 1 (with dirac) to 2 (without) then back = no change - tried rebooting = no change - I changed SW from "mono" to "none" then back again = no change - Tried different formats = no change - Then the kids wanted to watch 4k Edge of Tomorrow and accidentally put the 1080p bluray into the oppo 203 and hit play.....for those that know this movie the opening sequence of the 1080p DTS track has awesome sub sonics. Part way through this sequence the subs came to life. I have no idea what triggered them to come on, but simply sat down and enjoyed the movie. I will test some more tomorrow and see if the SW channel goes away again.

I installed last night and was hoping it would fix my reference audio switching issues. Mine has been glitchy when switching to reference audio. For example when in reference audio mode sometimes when switching songs it revert back to auto and I will have to switch back. Then when I'm done listening I will switch it back to auto and I will find the next day it will revert back to reference audio. This is annoying because the family will be watching stuff in this mode without even noticing.

I'm a cinematographer so I tend to have a procession of different monitors available. I plug these up to the RMC-1L. If I plug the BluRay players directly into these monitor (mostly to run calibration charts), everything is fine. If I route via the RMC-1L, I get issues. The weak link here is the RMC-1L

My Xfinity X1 seems to working OK.
Oppo is still having problems with audio, checking this morning the original problem with no sound.
XMC-2 shows PCM 2.0 48khz 16 bits and should be TrueHD
But Nvidia Shield Pro, latest version has some audio issues also.
Using Vudu, which uses Dolby+ for sound is unreliable. When a movie is first started -No audio. Had to exit movie a couple of times and then it will kick-in.
The Nvidia Shield also does not auto turn on when selected in the XMC-2. I have to turn on manually.
Remember, this version does not automatically support IR so CEC On is rather important.
Nvidia and Oppo worked flawlessly in Firmware 2.5. no issues.
Using my Emby server most normal audio formats seem to work, Just Dolby+ does not work reliably
PCM seems to be the default or start point with XMC-2 for audio from what I am seeing, generally changing to whatever format the audio is.
My HDMI card is one of the older originals, having the Updating Fonts on cold boot problem and HDMI version update number.

The Tuner started leaking through the audio from the Apple TV. Restarted - went away. Still getting lots of loud clicks and pops too. Still no video from BluRay, other than a quick flash of the home screen when the player turns on.

Before I update. Did the FW fix all of the problems and finally give us the features the RMC-1L manual says it has? Not sure whether to update, past updates have either brought new issues or in my case a (I have a Sony 70", Emotiva units are tricky with Sony) I end up sending my unit back to Franklin. Every unit has gone back and some multiple times.
So I repeat,

I have 4 BluRay players - none pass video through the RMC-1L - all work plugged directly into my monitor or projector - I use the Reavon X110 or X200 as an SACD player via HDMI. This works great although occasionally has issues locking into DSD. I have Apple TV 4K, Firestick, Cromecast, Streambox Ultra (interface only through HDMI) -all working fine

… SA-CD Issue with click/pop sound when stopping/ejecting the disc. … Didn’t know that one but confirmed pop using Oppo 203 with SACD Multi (DSOTM) when stopping (pausing ok). Did not get a pop on eject, but did when I hit play and it resumed (just before the music restarted) and after the last track played. Hard one to test … had to listen to the whole album! That's what I meant. I can live with it - as I don't have so many Multi-Channel SACD. the 200 Stereo One's are ripped and available within Roon.
And I started also to have all physical discs (Movies, Concerts) ripped. If this is the only thing then - so what as long as it works

I have a Sony and have had very good success with the RMC-1, though ARC only started working with the latest code (including new FW from Sony for my model). But no, ‘all the problems’ are not fixed

What other people can't get a blu-ray to play? Scores of people play blu-rays with their XMC/RMC so there's obviously something going on with your system. Mine works with 3 different blu-ray players and has worked with 3 different 4k TVs. You assume your issues are fixable with FW. Maybe, just maybe, there is a hardware issue with your unit. Emotiva has even suggested you send it in to be checked out. Why won't you do that?

Just think of all the extra complain time you will have while your RMC is being serviced.

The question pretty much boils down to what is different between the BR players and your streaming devices. This is a question I've asked many times. It seems to have something to do with HDCP - High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. As the HDCP standards have changed, it causes incompatibilities between players and displays. Though in my case, it's not at all consistent. I can plug any source I have directly into the projector or monitor with no issue. I can plug any source I have into a borrowed Denon AVR and have no issue. I plug a BluRay player into my RMC1-L routing to a monitor or my projector andI cannot pass video, other than a momentary flash of picture.
