I think the comments regarding Dolby Vision are well taken, does that matter to you, or will HDR10 be sufficient? At least it’s worth adding a column when you’re comparing features.

I've seen several projectors. There's no doubt the huge screen is a plus. But let's be real. Nothing compares to a massive OLED imo. You want a large screen with excellent viewing comfort and clarity and color. I was going to get a nice 77inch or 83 inch OLED, but I once again have to put my plans on hold. But someday I will. I am willing to wait! The real question is...are you down for the steep price?

I have a Panasonic projector I bought in 2010, it's 1080P, but it looks awesome on a 106 inches screen, in eco mode the lamp lasts 2,000 hours, it still has over a 1,000 hours left, I don't watch regular tv on it unless it's a great sports event, so it's strictly for movies, so what I did was when I roll the screen back up I have a tv right there to watch anything else.

Exactly why the decision is a tough one for us, wife enjoys this hobby as much as I do and she thinking that a big OLED in the room would be best; however, when I dragged out the old BenQ projector, she simply smiled and walked out of the room saying... damn, dunno, tough decision.

That's what we had in our previous home... 100" roll up screen and 58" plasma on the wall for day to day with speakers all over the living room. Our current home is an open concept, so this room is literally a few steps away from the main living area. The plan is to keep the 65' OLED in the family room for day to day viewing and when it's time to watch a movie or "epic" TV series like GoT, to head into the "theater" room. Currently have a Sonos Arc and sub in the family room and thus far that combo is more than enough for day to day viewing.

As with all things in life, sometimes you need to compromise or come up with another plan... so for now, a decision has been made; however, with a slight twist: - Purchase an OLED TV for HT room; put small spare TV back into storage
- Our Daughter graduates at the end of this semester and she plans to move out by end of Summer / early fall; she takes the 4 year old 65" OLED from the family room
- The OLED from the HT room is then moved into the family room; at 79" long, the current console in the family room is large enough and can handle the weight of an 77 or 83" OLED
- Bring the spare TV back into the HT room
- Restart my hunt for a display for the HT room during the Black Friday sales
Thanks to all that have chimed in and or voted... I'll keep the thread updated after a trip to BestBuy and Costco to see what's in stock.

I’ll just add that the TCL 98” TV is $4999 at best buy right now. I’m very seriously debating replacing my 4K Sony projector with it, or just going full YOLO and putting that bad boy in the living room.

Visited BestBuy with my son and I'm pretty sure I'm banned from the store now... just kidding, well... yea, just kidding. After 30mins or so, seemed more like an eternity, of trying to compare Sony vs LG, both locked into demo mode, it was basically impossible for us tell any major differences between them. Sure, one was slightly brighter and one seemed to do colors a little better... we figured its probably the demo mode highlighting one aspect over another. I pleaded one last time... and was told no, so I politely thanked them for their time and indicated, that if I can't take the TVs out of demo mode, I can't make a purchase because I can't determine which is better... so we walked out. Although too close to call a winner... between 77" and 83", regardless of brand, I found it somewhat difficult to justify the $1,500 price difference. The whole way home from BestBuy, my son and I debated the two brands... in the end, the both of us agreed, too close to call in demo mode.
If the TV was to stay in my HT room, I would probably consider going with a larger TV; however, since this TV will ultimately end up in the family room towards the later part of this year, I thought the 77" size and price point was ideal. Since I couldn't "see" any major differences and for the mere fact that I already own and have been very happy with my 4 year old LG OLED, I ultimately decided to stay loyal to the brand and ordered the 77" LG C2 OLED... it should be delivered next Thursday.
