If you've got RFI or EMI causing a problem like you describe, then I would think problems could be heard using headphones. Think about a basic setup that uses the least amount of connections. Absolute minimum. Maybe try an extension cord and plug into a circuit from a different room. Do you have a multimeter to check the outlet with? Not just AC voltage, but also check to see if any DC voltage is present. Connect one test lead to Ground and use the other lead to check Load (Hot) and Common. If there is more than a few volts AC between Ground and Common, that's a problem. I've seen as much as 60 Volts between Ground and Common which led to discovering that a wire nut had gotten loose elsewhere. Is it possible to have something wrong with my xpa amp but still have normal blue lights on the front? Yes I do think it's possible. What troubleshooting steps have you done up to now?

I’ve been troubleshooting every week for months and still I’m not sure where the problem is because some days it sounds better than others.it’s like trying to hit a moving target. the amp is 10 years old and 75 pounds so it might be cheaper in the long run to replace it rather than have it serviced. But if I replace it and have the same problem I’m back to square one.

I must admit I'm a bit lost right now, so I need a refresher please. Do all channels have distortion? If not, which ones? If only some speakers have distortion, have other speakers or amp channels been swapped, and if so, same or different results?
