I've looked at some of the available in greater detail. Features are 'truncated' to push you up-line. That 500$ Panny is Nice...... The 200$+ LG doesn't appear to suppor PCM audio out the optical....if anywhere else. Something in specs about 'no 2ch mixdown'......

Completely agree with your assessment on the Reavon players, I was just adding to "leonski's" list of players that fit his criteria. Good to hear your new 420 has solved your layer/locking problem. Yep, definitely a fan. And surprised at how small the player is. It was easier to add a second than I expected!
I had the same reaction when I got my 420. I was expecting a full size unit, but I am not complaining . If it supported Dolby Vision it would be the perfect mid-tier BD player. Not a deal breaker in my case, to me it was not worth it to spend twice as much for the 820 to have Dolby Vision, a display and 7.1 analog outputs.

The ~$250 Panasonic UB-420 does have an optical output supporting both PCM and Bitstream. I got mine on sale for less than $200 last year.

Update, here's my first glitch with the Panasonic 420 player. I started watching the Hunger Games series (all Blu-ray). Watched the first two movies and Part 1 of Mockingjay on the Panny with no problems and none were expected. It has performed flawlessly up till now. Started watching Mockingjay Part 2 and shortly into the movie it started changing to what appeared to be randomly selected other chapter of the movie. I ejected the disc, then restarted and that glitch that happened at the same point in the movie. When it did the same thing a bit later I stopped and ejected the disc. I inserted it into the Sony player and it played flawlessly throughout the whole movie. It's baffling since the Panny has been flawless to this point on everything I've played on it but made me happy that I have the two players to use when encountering issues. If I have freezes on any BD=100 UHD discs with the Panny, then I'll consider myself out of luck...

The Sony is not ultra HD but it’s got Bluetooth which is pretty cool. Sometimes I just like to play content on the disks, that’s not the movie itself, like commentary or music Through the Bluetooth headset and you can do that anywhere in the house even pass out upstairs with them on.

I ended up with the Panny UB820 which is NOW up to 500$ 'list'. I paid 30% LESS than that just by paying attention to sales and such. Had to drive to Encinitas to find one, NIB and not having been dropped down a flight of stairs. Very happy once I got it configured / setup and 'happy' with the LG OLED set.......

Hope you enjoyed as much as I do. Works very smoothly with no quirks and fast. My Sony back up in the system is nice but quirky, occasionally locking up and sometimes there is no HDMI audio. I need to switch to another source and back to get it to come on, but not too often. Your search for undamaged reminds me of the postal Delivery of the Emotiva processor, with the thing perched on the mailman’s shoulder as I saw him coming up the driveway and thinking this is not going to end well.

Anybody aware of a setting on the 820 that will allow Netflix to stream HDR on the 820, I can't find it?

I would think that to be automatic, depending upon the Internet speed you’re getting from your ISP

Anybody aware of a setting on the 820 that will allow Netflix to stream HDR on the 820, I can't find it? Not sure if you checked here: help.netflix.com/en/node/23877Sorry, but I never used the TV nor BR player "smart" apps; I prefer a separate streamer and thus far, my Nvidia Shield and Apple TV 4k have no issues streaming DV, HDR, etc. type content. That being said, I just set up my Netflix account on my 820 and once I opened Netflix, the TV displayed the DV Logo. I then selected a title and sure enough, my Cinema 50 sees it as a DV video with Dolby audio. Netflix UI was very slow compared to my Shield and ATV, but it worked otherwise. Below are the HDMI settings that I'm using for my 820... - Resolution - 4K
- 4K60P Output - 4k/60p(4:4:4)
- 24p Output - Auto
- HDMI video output mode - Auto
- HDMI audio output mode - Audio Only
- DV Setting - On
- HDR10+ - On
- Advanced - I think the only setting I changed was HDR TV Type, I set it to OLED
My 820 is on firmware 1.76... Forgot to mention that my 820 is connected via ethernet.

The above few posts highlight what is wrong with modern tech. Not that it doesn't work, but the complexity.
I just bought a new thermostat and it came with NO directions except for wiring. Even the company website has no manual for this device. If you go to the helps and go for a specific question, you may have better luck. I'm no dummy, but the 'stat has about 15 or 20 pages of settings and viewables. Including a registration page to get at the APP so I can watch my settings on my Phone..... Company has no plans to write a comprehensive manual. I'd Personally settle for a simple MAP of Screens.......which would also help with most other tech.
Want an example? Go to 'Settings' in your iPhone. Page after page to the point you lose track of just what the heck you WERE looking for.....
I do not use any of the '820 Apps. Anything special comes thru my TV.....

Same brand / model of HDMI cables used on both the Firecube and Panny? Swap HDMI cables and you get the same result?

Haven't flipped them but they're the same cables, HDR is displayed in the XMC-2 info screen when a disc is played, shows SDR when Netflix is playing.

One thing I completely forgot, under your Netflix profile, is Data usage per screen set to Auto or High? Makes sure it's set to High and try Netflix via your Panny BR player again.
