What monoblocks to buy xpa1, xpr1? XPR1 - the big gorilla XPA1 - Chimp+Orangutang You really can't go wrong with either. If you have the cash, XPRs are a good choice.

Honestly the DR amps are pretty damn solid. And I honestly don’t know if you lose much of anything with a DR-2 versus two DR-1s

My DR3 has been rock solid, clean, powerful, low noise floor etc for several years now. Scott

Heres what you want to know so you can stop guessing about what to do. Your speakers can be driven by a 10 watt tube amp, ie, not difficult to drive.
The XPR-1’s - A) I own a set of these amps B) I’ve owned a pair since they came out. They are the best amp Emotiva has ever made IMO. They can drive anything you can throw at them and even transform the speaker into a beast. Enough power to bring out all the detail and bass a source and speaker have to offer. C) They are heavy and are getting heavier every day, Im aging as will you God willing. 🙏. I’ve moved them once since their purchase. D) Repairs at this point are near hopeless if required.
DR-2 - A) I own this amp B) I purchased one for the Mrs system and it presents plenty of power for detailed music and thunderous bass. C) Although I am a monoblock guy, I don’t see that requirement for a HT system. Also, your speakers are relatively easy to drive so I’m not sure how much you would benefit by purchasing a set or trio of DR-1’s. D) These are available and come with a good warranty.
DR-1 - A) I have no experience with this amp but I see no reason why it would not be built with the same quality as any other TOTL amp from Emotiva. For that matter I see and have not heard of any problems with Emotiva’s amp building abilities.
Have fun and enjoy! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

What monoblocks to buy xpa1, dr1, xpr1? You’re asking the wrong question. What type of speakers are you driving and what are their power requirements and or limits. Couple with that are the decibel levels you’re looking to achieve. In a nutshell, that’s the foundation for selecting the correct amplifiers for the application.

I have been running a pair of DR-1s for five years and they perform very well. They are powering a pair of 1992 Carver Platinums with 60 inch ribbons. I retired my two Carver TFM-45 stereo amps that were in bridged mono and I have never looked back.

I've been very pleased with my DR1s driving Magnepans. Not sure what more I would ask for and at what price.

He did not put that out initially, and after a few of us put the question to him he then answered as you say. That being said, even when you read the response, it’s still a bit confusing. What’s the “3” for? In that regard I am still missing something!

What’s the “3” for? In that regard I am still missing something! Good morning, I read the post in progression on my page and your question showed up after his post. Maybe the it was out of order but that would seem odd. I took the “3” to mean that he was also incorporating a Home Theater system with a center channel. Most times folks with a HT system like to drive the L, R, C channels with the same amp and power. It is an assumption on my part. If thats not the case then I have no other explanation for it. Hope you have a Fantabulous day!
