Given the frequency of such 'security issues'......I don't even think this rates as 2nd string news.
I spend a couple hours a month updating / upgrading and emptying the trash....

I'm doing update to 13.6 even as I type. I wom't got to any version of IOS14.x for a month or so....or when 14.1 is available....
Over cautious? Maybe. My oriignal 2009 Imac....still works...was shipped with 10.5 and a 3-computer upgrade to 10.6 I think was about 100$....My computer, a nephews Macbook and one other. Just as a note of durability? Newphew had his Macbook until the buttons mostly wore out!

So I’m going to air what seems an anomaly 🐞 in iPadOS (and probably iOS) 17.x. Most of my Lounge time is spent using my iPad Pro with Safari, and to my knowledge I don’t hang out at any other ProBoards hosted sites. What I’m finding is that since upgrading to iPadOS 17, I cannot use the four buttons starting with the ‘link’ button (globe with document). I hit them with my Apple Pencil (or my primitive finger) and nothing happens. So I can’t post links, photos, or video with this setup, and it’s pretty inconvenient. I’ve also tried Chrome on 17 with the same results, so in my mind it’s either 17, or something ProBoards didn’t keep up with, that 17 has exposed, but since my Mac w/Safari works, it’s probably iOS / iPadOS 17.
Anyone else notice this or specifically NOT having this problem?
Edit: One of my three Macs has now been updated to Sonoma (macOS 14), using Safari it now has the same problem noted above (don't have Chrome on that machine).
Editwo: I wen't over to the ProBoards site to see if it did the same thing, it didn't, so I reported the problem. As I was making the post I noticed they default to "Preview" mode, where as this site defaults to "BBCode", the buttons work in Preview, but not in BBCode. So there's a workaround if you also have this problem.

You probably heard me SCREAMING.....3 states away.....when I discovered my 32 bit software....which I LIKED.....no longer functioned with my 'upgraded' 64 bit OS......
It is a flippin' PLOT of planned obsolescence.
My Imac will not take anything past OS10.13 since the 'decided' to screw everybody. My 2009 Imac is several versions OLDER and at the max of ITS upgrade cycle.....
ONly thing left for me to do is increase the RAM to some much larger amount......

… I'm on iOS 17.0 beta 8, I'm guessing the last beta until the official public version of iOS 17 is released. I also will be purchasing an Apple Watch series 8(hoping to catch the 8 on sale) or pre-order a 9. I've been riding my titanium road bikes 100-120 miles/week since May, and I'm just tired of having to carry my iPhone, thus the Apple Watch with cellular will alleviate that situation. Getting a lot of miles myself, and using Apple Watch to track, though still carry iPhone in handlebar mount. Wish I could mirror some stats (miles, speed, current / avg heart rate) to phone so I don’t have to look at watch. I’ll probably get a 15 Pro and 9, though think you could find 8’s on sale. Answering myself from the iOS 16 thread … my wish has come true! Starting with iOS 17 and watchOS 10, when you start an activity on your watch (like my bike ride this morning), it prompts you to monitor it on your iPhone. So your watch captures your speed, miles, heart rate, etc, and your iPhone mirrors the numbers in large print. Exactly what I was asking for above. Having the display on your iPhone is great, don’t have to look at watch, easy to pause when you take a break, love it! My favorite new feature so far. 🚴

MY Dream Watch Grand Seiko. A watchmakers 'thing apart' with a 10 'tick per second' mechanical movement of high precision. www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/sbgj237gRuns right at 7000$ and is certainly in the 'Aspirational' category......

Certainly a nice watch. Most of the time I wear my Seiko Coutura. I have an older Seiko I’ll occasionally wear and have several cheaper Movement watches. I also have my Dad’s Rolex but rarely wear it. I’m kind of a watch guy, I’ve got about 10 but aside from the Rolex nothing too pricey.

Brother gave me an Orange Monster a decade or so ago. Bought in Doha (Qatar) the day part of day/dat is in English and Arabic... Seiko makes a lot of good stuff.....the GRAND Seiko is tops in so many categories. Certainly up there with nearly any timepiece made on Earth...
I'd like a watch with either NO date or a perpetual calendar......
My main requirement? At least 10bar water resistence. That's good for swimming and shower / handwashing..... The 20 bar stuff is good for light scuba / diving to maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the 'rating'......
If I was a diver? One of the 30bar MARINEMASTER line.......

Checked last nite against cell phone. My Orange Monster is about 15 seconds slow.....this after about 6 months, which is when I adjusted after the 'time change'....Spring Forward, and all that. Watch has 'hacking function' so adjust +-1 second is easy.....

Buddy just bought one of the top-line Appe Watch models. Not for me, thank you. I don't want my watch.......watching....... Keeps track fo sleep? Heartrate? and a bunch of other stuff.....and he said it would issue a warning under some conditions......I forget..... But it is good to 100 meters and has a decent dust 'rating'......The case is a huge 49mm and for the ladies? It keeps track of 'your cycle'.......Excuse ME?
This makes what Dick Tracey wore look obsolete....and THAT was cartoon fantasy.....
I'll stick with my Seiko for TIME. And pocket the difference in $$$

For a casual user....and looking at least 3 to 5 years forward, which is the BEST of the pads to get?
I'm thinking 'AIR', but others may disagree.....

Adjusted Orange Monster today for new time. It was running about 18 +-2 seconds slow in 6 months. Now it's about 2 shy and will be fine until the next time change.....
