Thought I would post here as I felt like I was hijacking the previous thread. Here are some pics of my new HT room. It is a room full of glass and sunlight, the enemy of good home AV. However, I don't watch TV in the day much, and watching TV at night with the city as a backdrop is worth the other concessions. IMO. Plus this was the only rom left in the house after our 3rd child wanted her own room and the wife wanted a new kitchen. Glass is double glazed with e-glass, window is North facing so the sun is never really beaming directly in the windows, it does glare a little when bouncing off the deck. Location is Adelaide, South Australia, climate is hot and dry, today its 41c (106f). In Winter the temp at night doesn't often get below 10c (50f). Notice my in wall and in ceiling speakers. The rear atmos had to be positioned in the upper level, but they have an angled baffle for both tweeter and woofer, so they could be pointed at the MLP. It was all a compromise but strangely it sounds pretty good.

Where are you from Carrick Hill? That seems to have a north exposure toward the city. BTW? Looks like a wonderful place to call home!
It's all to the good that you were able to accomodate your 'odd' room and still end up with good sound.
Me? I find 40c a little on the warm side! Kind of Palm Springs (here in SoCal) warm. Or even Borrego Springs. At Borrego? (a kind of bighorn sheep) you can go out by about 10am for coffee, but NOTHING is open again until about 6pm as the sun goes down. the 8 hours or more from morning close to evening open? GHOST TOWN.....
Speaking as a photographer? I'd make one recommendation. Get a circular polarizer. It will not effect color, but properly adjusted (rotatable mount) it can be used to delete those Reflections from the upper level wall.....This is the ONLY filter I carry as a matter of routine.
What is the Australian standard for electricity? Voltage? Frequency?

Adelaide is about 1.4m population so a Ghost Town compared to Melbourne, Syndey, LA etc, but waaayy better traffic. Electricity here is 240v 50hz. Its a good size city, not too big, not too small and we have Kangaroos and Koalas in the reserve behind us. Oh and also Brown Snakes which are the 2nd deadliest snake in the world I nearly stepped on one a couple of days ago. Fortunately, we are only 10 minutes from the nearest hospital, and they have antivenom.

Not THAT'S the reason I'd never do any camping or hiking in Australia! Place is crawing with all sorts of nasty reptiles with poor attitudes about being stepped on.
1.4 million is not bad and in a look at the 'highlights' plenty of cool things to do. Museums? Nature? Nice climate? (40c was +25c of normal, IIRC)
You also have a variety of Crocs......Salties are BIG and oceangoing. So much for river kayak trips! Not to mention (probably) Bull Sharks.
At least here in Southern California we are primarily limited to Rattlesnakes, which give ample warning UNLESS you are simply clumsy or REACHING
under a rock or fallen log. BAD idea. The Mojave Green is a little aggressive, perhaps, but you'd have to go looking for it, nearly.
I looked for Panorama on the map without much luck......I know it's there! Name something nearby I CAN find, please.
At for 1.4 million? Very close to the CITY of San Diego. I'm about an hours train ride north, up the coast. The entire county is over 3 million.....
Think about that polarizing filter. Works wonders around water or shiney automobiles.

Nice space bud!
With that view, I don't blame you on making audio/video concessions. Just do the best you can with room treatment and room correction and enjoy your system.
Thanks

Your thread title says it all but it doesn’t matter. Were I fortunate enough to have a living space as gorgeous as that I wouldn’t give a rats ass about the television set.

Plenty to do in Adelaide, we have some of the best wine regions in the world here Barossa, Mclaren Vale, Claire Valley, (Penfolds Grange is made here). There are no crocs within 4,000km of Adelaide and there are no alligators in Australia at all! But we do have great white sharks and they are eating people at an alarming rate. What I like about places like the US is you can go a short time and get to another city, Australia is so spread apart, the nearest major city to Adelaide is Melbourne and that is about 500miles away.

From right where I'm parking my behind? Las Vegas is 300 miles....plus a few. San Francisco is also about 300 miles. To the Grand Canyon? 500+ To ZION National Park....Call it 460. I was just there are drove 1500 miles in a week+, but stayed 40 or 50 miles away in St. George Utah.....
But plenty of stuff to do in San Diego. 'World Famoous' zoo. Sprekles Organ (outdoor) Balboa Park...some decent museums.
Good Coffee. Terrific Mexican Food.
I'm a born tour guide. i"d never recommend Vegas. Vulger and $$$ San Fran? Going downhill. But the BRIDGE! Go for a walk but dress warm. Go to the Grand Canyon, but bring GOOD hiking shoes and be in decent shape.
Central California coast is worth the drive. Couple places to overnight. Go see Hearst Castle. (indescribable)
Plenty of mountains and hiking. Skiing in the local mountains.
SOUTH Florida has both Crocs and Gators. And now? Python (ball and rock) as well as BOA and rattlesnakes and water mocosins AND coral snakes. The local REDNECK IQ is around your high temp in C. Crooks abound.

Hearst Castle? IS a bit nutty.
Looks like an Italian Village from the coast road. ALL electric Kitchen.
Architech was a woman.....Julia Morgan by name. Indoor pool took Years to tile.
Outdoor pool has no 'shallow' end. A fireplace you could burn a small forest in.
Incalculable amount of bought 'european' art. Floors in some rooms are a bit
'springy' which helps dancing.
Hearst's MISTRESS lived on site for years. Hearst basically invented the Spanish American War.
I think there ARE or WERE 4 interior tours. 1 Outdoor GARDEN tour / explore. And for the wealthy?
6 people on a 4 hour exploration for 1000$, the group....That's about 167$ each, which I consider a BARGAIN.
'Insane' is just the tip of the Uber Wealthy Ice Berg......
Let me know in advance when you come to SoCal and I'll give you the off-script tour......
