Just curious who is planning to be out watching/experiencing the eclipse? We are at the edge of the totality, but my mother-in-law lives in Lima, OH - which is right in the middle. And, their forecast for clouds is better than ours, so we're going there to watch it. My wife and I each have special shirts to wear... My wife's: Mine: Can't wait!!! Mark

It’s coming right over us as well. Every available room here has been sold out for months. I think the huge influx of strange people will be more interesting to watch than the eclipse itself.

Mark Those are both great shirts! Enjoy the darkness. I'm North of Chicago, so only about 94%. But even so, lots of places will be closing to allow everyone to watch. A carwash chain is closing at 12:30pm (got an email from them).

We shot the 2017 in Charleston, SC. We had success but it was very close, with lots of clouds coming in and a thunderstorm nearby during totality ... very apocalyptic! I ran three cameras: wide timelapse with no filter, timelapse at 400mm on a tracker with filter, and 500mm with 1.4 teleconverter for manual single shots. Photos and timelapses are here ... marclombardi.smugmug.com/Astrophotography/Solar-Eclipse-2017This time we decided not to travel because you have to pick a place so far in advance, and no matter where you pick on this path it could be a washout. Closest totality to us is 180 miles north and west ... Syracuse to Buffalo. Theoretically you could drive to and from in one day ... yeah us and a bazillion other people from PA and NY. So no. We'll stay home and shoot it to our 89%. I'm going to do a wide-ish (maybe 40mm) time lapse with a filter on, and I'll shoot manually at 500mm with filter on. Fortunately our back patio has a clear view of the whole enchilada.

93% here but we had totality in '17. It was amazing.

I trail hike as part of my regular exercise regimen for about two hours, to 2 hours 15 minutes.…… Skip two days and do the whole thing over again.
Lucky me this week my exercise will fall right in the middle of this eclipse, which will be kind of cool and kind of creepy. I guess watching everything get dark in the middle of the afternoon while I huff it out. Hopefully, I will not be abducted by aliens before I finish.

Eclipse? As in car audio speakers by Fujitsu Ten? Yes, they were among the best ever.

It will be right here in NYC, I have been advising people not to look at it without proper sunglasses, it can create permanent eye damage.

Test shots ... two different filters for the two cameras. I can adjust color in post. Sunspots do move!

I'll be able to view from this location...in my mother-in-law's driveway. Convenient! Mark

LOL.. I'll be on a regularly scheduled monthly meeting doing a presentation (from my home office). Guess I'll watch out the window and see it get dark.

I timed today’s trail hiking, so it would fall in the middle of the eclipse. Very nice. Snapped one shot only with my phone and got kind of lucky. The location is FDR Park off the Taconic State Parkway in northern Westchester, New York
