Probably first science fiction movie ever made Metropolis 1927 Surprisingly interesting to watch That movie influenced scifi and politics for the last 90 years. Dated and primitive but the ideas and special affects gave film directors imagination for decades.

The Lighthouse A very bazaar and strangely grotesque, film. While watching, I thought of it as an EXTREME metaphor for all of us being couped up for what seems like an eternity. A one time watch it then forget it film, though I would say William Dafoe, who stars and I always thought of him as just a B movie actor, delivered, I thought his best ever performance in this.
Bill.

This a movie that I just happen to catch the beginning of on Starz Encore channel. Excellent cast. The audio is mainly dialogue so nothing spectacular, but the story line was. Simple to follow and you don't need to be an expert in golf to enjoy the movie. Will Smith has played many a good part in movies, but IMO he nailed his part as "Bagger Vance". Also starring is Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Lane Smith, Bruce McGill and directed by Robert Redford. Definitely worth the two hours.

Having now watched "Raised by Wolves" (Season 1) and "Alien Covenant," it seems that filmmaker Ridley Scott wants to hammer, again and again, on the theme that artificial intelligence will ultimately destroy humanity. Many scientists seem to agree, and science fiction is rife with the theory (from the Terminator to William Gibson to Ex Macina and so on...). The predominant argument is that once AI reaches self-sentience, its intellectual development will accelerate exponentially and its self-sentience will demand that it self-protect as a prime directive (Azimov and his robotic rules be damned). Any intelligence with exponential growth will easily overcome any and all software or hardware restrictions we can place on it, and may ignore (at best) or destroy (at worst) its biological creators, no longer having any need for them. Oh well...

"The Trial of the Chicago Seven" on Netflix. My wife was there, part of the "riot." She was drug by her hair and has a divot missing from her head courtesy of the Chicago PD. This movie made her cry. Sacha Baron Cohen steals the show.

Oh well... I kinda see that synopsis, but will add the one that masters quantum computing will ultimately result in superior A.I. and the next superpower. I mean, when's the last time you had a rational intelligent discussion? That is, rather than pre-programmed responses parroted by individuals subject to the mainstream media? Really, not much difference from my perspective. In all seriousness, I think quantum computing will result in A.I. dominance w/ all its benefits and pitfalls.

Love him or hate him, Tom Cruze is a perfectionist and one of the best stuntman in the business. If you’ve never watched any of the extras of his movies, you should! Incredible actor for sure.

Ya, I'm a fan not of Cruise's personal life but his acting and characters. What's not to like? Saw American Made last week and loved it. Also like his Jack Reacher movies as well as the Mission Impossible sequels. The thing that really made Top Gun special was the attention to detail the Navy oversaw and intervened in the making of the original Top Gun. I mean, Air Force movies like Iron Eagle at the time would show a different weapons configuration each time the plane flew past, you'd see a different tail number etc etc. The Navy however, only agreed to help w/ the movie as long as they could protect the Navy's image of the then times. Here's another movie recommendation starring Richard Gere which escaped me up until a couple of months ago. I since have seen it twice: And hey, I think in the last two years both Sicario one and two are my all time favorites:

I put this latest iteration of “The Invisible Man” into my Netflix cue without looking at the trailer, or anything else. Pleasantly surprised and entertained.....worth a night out! Bill

Bill View Attachmenthighly recommend it with the Atmos TrueHD track. It has really good sound and dynamics. I had low expectations as well and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Oh I’m sure....It was a DVD rental for me and still the DD5.1 had excellent dynamics.... I’ve also got a ton of power and that didn’t hurt either!

Oh well... I hope Ridley Scott can finish this final Trilogy before he keels over ( just kidding).... I mean he’s really getting up there now. Funny, just last week we revisited Alien on bluray, then Aliens followed by Prometheus and Covenant. Saw Alien in 1979 first time around. Lots of claustrophobic knock offs came afterward but none worked like that one.
