Watched again "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (streaming from Disney +), together with my son. He is back home from his first year in college, got some manly stuff to catch up with 😄. I must say I appreciated it more than the first and only time we watched it, shortly after its release. "Rogue One" is still my favorite of all the "modern era" Star Wars movies, including the prequels and sequels to the original trilogy. ❤️🎉 That Manly stuff! 🎉❤️ Used to watch Star Wars movies with my dad (on tapes!), now I do the same with my son. It doesn't get any "manlier" than that 😎.

Having this week off of work is allowing me to finally be that person that gets to go and watch that pre-release movie tomorrow at the IMAX theater. Which means I'll have to watch the 4K UHD-bluray of "Top Gun" this evening. I've been reading really positive reviews from those that have been lucky enough to get a pre-screening watch and this new movie according to those reviewers is even better than its 1986 predecessor, which means my expectations are definitely set to high. Tom Cruise seems to be one of those actors that appears in only top notch movies, "MI 7: Dead Reckoning part1" another one of those I'm looking forward to, so I would be very surprised if this latest installment of Top Gun is a dud.

I watched the original cut of Godzilla last night. It was an interesting experience as the Japanese edit focuses more on grief and loss than the monster. Not a great movie for sure, but i figure the Japanese folks making that had lots of recent experience with sudden loss.

I just got back from seeing Top Gun: Maverick, I have not seen a movie this OUTSTANDING in quite some time. Easily makes my Top 5 all time favorites. The AMC IMAX theater I experienced this movie in was quite exceptional AUDIO-wise, so I can say without a doubt that when this releases on 4K UHD-bluray that I will be all over this release. IMO, this is a must see movie with an outstanding cast. While some of the cast was new to me, they performed well, and what I expected out of the known actors is exactly what I expected and more. I'd really like to give more details but I don't want to play the part of a spoiler. This movie ended up being so much more than I had expected, story/plot-wise, so definitely wasn't as predictable as some might think, and I'll say it was more emotional that I would've thought. All in all, IMO, this is a must see, but be sure to see it in an IMAX theater.

Thanks for not BEING THAT GUY! 😁 If this wasn't a worthy movie, I might've "Been That Guy" !!! I will add one thing, while I think this movie was even better than the first, it thankfully has a completely different feel to it, otherwise it probably would've just been another part 2 movie.

If you didn't know yet, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series started streaming the first two episodes last night. Good to see Ewan Mcgregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Thanks for not BEING THAT GUY! 😁 I read a review for Top Gun from (and I apologize) the most beta male ever complaining about the plot etc. I’m like man this movie is not for you at all, just skip reviewing it and go watch Shape of Water for the 15th time.

Mrs and I truly enjoyed this action packed thriller from our favorite spy, 007, or was he 007? I’m not telling. Make sure to set your volume appropriately when you start the movie. I didn’t and it still scared the heck out of us.

I will add one thing, while I think this movie was even better than the first, it thankfully has a completely different feel to it, otherwise it probably would've just been another part 2 movie. Went to see Top Gun with my wife and son yesterday evening. A few quick thoughts: - Yes, although a sequel it is a different movie and in some ways better than the first. - Stunning imagery in the flying scenes - I too went to watch it at an IMAX with excellent sound. It DID make for an enhanced experience - I did not particularly like how they started the movie. I get the homage to the original Top Gun, but they could have easily put those few minutes later on in the movie and just start with Maverick in his hangar. - Funny consideration: the plot reminded me of one of the movies in the Iron Eagle series. I won't say more, but if any of you have seen those movies you will know what I am talking about 😁 I am a sucker for any movie about aviation, so I am quite biased, but it is certainly a movie worth seeing. Even my wife liked it, she said it is better than the first one 🙂.

Forgot to mention! If you want to watch again the original "Top Gun", today is its last day on Netflix.

And by the way: the F/A-18 Hornet/Super Hornet and the F-35C might be more capable and modern machines, but the F-14 is still the coolest naval fighter jet ever made 😎.

Forgot to mention! If you want to watch again the original "Top Gun", today is its last day on Netflix. I have the 3D remastered version of the first film….what a cool way to revisit. My original DVD was not properly widescreen formatted, so the new one was serious eye 👁 candy!

I was less impressed with the "forced" delivery at my seat of ordered food. I'm not used to waiting 45 minutes for a cheeseburger. The way it works is the food orders are cooked in batches, the food sits on a counter until about 10 orders are ready, then delivered. I know this because after waiting 35 minutes I went to find out what was happening with my order. Probably should've gotten the hotdog that nobody knew how long it was turning on the rollers, just like Kramer did at the Alex Theater.

This week I have been revisiting alien and perhaps all of the alien franchise I will go to Prometheus next.… I started out with the directors cut of alien and aliens. Like many I’ve seen these movies a bunch of times and I’ve come to the conclusion that I prefer the theatrical release over both of those two original films. Ridley Scott felt he was doing a service to add the additional footage and so on and so on. I think he was right the first time to leave some of those scenes out which were frankly quite lame and did more to distract rather than add to the films . That being said I still love them all I think going from alien right to Prometheus and then alien covenant is my favorite distraction

I just felt like you could tell that Craig was bored, tired and so glad to be done with the series. I'll give it another shot later.

The Green Knight This film wins the AWARD for the best Audio track and ATMOS….. Coupled with the worst hapless, feckless, and pointless film I think I’ve ever seen. They would have done well to have council with Monty Python 🐍 and at least, morph it into a comedy film. In many ways, they accomplished that without trying. The good thing is, you can walk out and get food with no worries about missing anything.

There were actually some very powerful and emotionally inspiring love scenes in the film that really made it work as pictured below.
