Just a little nugget for those who did not get a chance to go to Emofest. When Big Dan was showing the "Beast" (XPR-7) Saturday afternoon, he said that they had just run the Beast on the AP Tester and it was putting out 465 Watts into 8 Ohms and 690 Watts into 4 Ohms. Not bad for an amp that will be advertised to produce 400 Watts. He also said that they had enough filter capacitors in reserve that is could suck enough electricity from the wall socket to be able to continue running at only 90 Volts (instead of the normal 120 Volts). ;D

Well I think what it means is that it is perfectly capable of drawing tons and tons of power, but under normal listening conditions (not ear bleeding levels) you aren't going to draw too much power. But it's still certainly possible.

Basically, it means that its power supply is so robust that even if you draw so much juice from the wall that it causes the voltage supplied to drop to 90 Volts (instead of 120 Volts) it will still continue to provide the output power that is required.
The last two posts are also true, but that major benefit comes from the reserve power it supplies the amp with. Just think of the headroom this amp is capable of when it can continue providing full power output even when the voltage in drops to 90 volts. That is unheard of performance.

I thought I heard Big Dan say this thing was going to cost $2400.00. Am I the only one that heard this?

I have to say I'm not too surprised with that figure. In light of what you are getting, it seems pretty reasonable.
Mark.

Outlaws 300 x 7 amp is $1k more than than the XPR-7 so I would say this is a good value alright.

Emo even has a five year warranty on their cd player. That is longer than any other company I have seen (bryston included!)

Can Dan confirm this price? I must have missed it unless it was discussed at Emofest....

After looking at the components it is using and looking at its build quality, not to mention it is to be Emotiva's flagship product, it will be an absolute steal at that price. However, should Emotiva elect to sell it for less you would get no complaints from me. ;D ;D ;D

My current receiver doesn't have pre-outs and I don't want to buy a stop gap. Also, you eluded to some more in depth info on your next webcast. Any chance you could throw us a bread crumb now?

Hi All, Dan wanted me to let you know it will sell for $2499. and has a projected release by the end of the year. He has been talking about a spectacular pre-order deal, but I better put a stop to that . I think he has been getting into the leftover wine from Emofest! cheers cathy

Is that the "delivered price"? Maybe free delivery could be the Pre-Order List perk; and, Dan can keep sampling the leftover wine. Thank you, again for your outstanding hospitality during Emofest. You were very gracious and kept the ball rolling all weekend. I enjoyed myself very much and thought the entire Emotiva staff did an outstanding job. I am already thinking about next year's Emofest celebration. ;D

So in short... is this to be, in essence, a smaller WPC multichannel XPA-1?

In any case that XPR-7 is amazing amplifier. My jaw still drops down just looking at the pictures even. Incredible how much there is inside for so little out of the wallet, all considered.
