With the USP-1 I’m enjoying music like never before. Short background. I have always liked music but didn’t actually listen to music at home as much as I do now. Now I know why. About a year ago, while looking for a new receiver online, I discovered Emotiva and after reading some reviews I decided to give them a try. The first product I ordered was the XPA-5. That incredible amp opened the flooding gates.
Fast forward to the USP-1, ERC-1 and XPA-1’s. My speakers are LS6 from av123 and the sub is the PB13 Ultra from SVS. My music (mostly Rock) never sounded like this. Every instrument is front and center. No instrument overpowers each other. The music is now lean and focus. Before adding the USP-1 and the ERC-1 I thought my system sounded pretty good but now, WOW. Highs are just perfect, mids are strong and the bass OMG, the bass is TIGHT and in control.
Some people think that the ERC-1 is too bright and in your face but I respectfully disagree. I don’t know if it is because of the kind of control I'm getting from the USP-1 but, perhaps. I have never looked so much forward to the weekends when I get to enjoy this incredible sound with my favorite beer. Gracias Emotiva!

I'm curious about the LS-6s. How do you like them? What did you have before?

Are you using this in 2-channel only or with the ByPass with another receiver?

Yep I agree. So much great music to hear with the USP-1 and ERC-1, you don't want to do the other stuff.

Hey Fernando! Great to see your post and that your Emofest purchases worked out well. I am also loving my USP-1...all that you said applies with mine also. And, the XPA-2 I bought from you sounds fantastic...thanks again!

I'm curious about the LS-6s. How do you like them? What did you have before? The LS6's are amazing. Their size (almost 6 feet tall and heavy) is the only thing I would change, or better yet my wife would, but they are a lot of fun to look at. With a speaker this size you might think that you are going to get overwhelm, depending on the room size, with too much sound, but they have a X-over that can be adjusted to the size of your room. I have them set up to a medium-small room and they behave very well. Before these I used the Rockets 850 now on surround duty.

sticknstones Yes, for now I'm using it as a 2.1 only because I'm getting ready to move and the AVR is already boxed. But the last thing to be pack will be the music system.

I'm also glad that you continue to enjoy the "beast".

Should have a USP-1 on its way this week or next for my 2-channel/workout room (haven't decided how exactly how crazy I am going with 2-channel in the room yet) myself. Currently have the squuezebox connected directly to a UPA-2 and some Klipsh RB-25 speakers using the Squeezbox for volume control.
Sounds great for working out, but I am ready for some refinment...USP-1, better speakers (probably end up ordering another pair of 6.2's when I recover from my recent purchases...possibly move the ERC-1 up here from the HT room or buy a second one).

I haven't had a chance to do much critical (loud!) listening with my USP-1/XPA-2 combo from Emofest yet, but what stands out right away is how clean and effortless the sound is compared to the LMC-1/LPA-1 setup. Hope to get the chance to crank it up this weekend. The HT bypass works great. You can switch between 2-channel and multi-channel quickly and easily. Doug, it sounds like you are still fired up about the 6.2s! Have they made the difference you expected?

Are you using a sub on 2 channel and does the sub work on bypass too! If so how did you configure the connections?

sticknstones, I am using a sub and it works on bypass. You connect the analogue outs from the pre-pro (mine is an LMC-1) to the HT bypass connections on the USP-1 and use the high pass outputs on the USP-1 (not the full range!) to connect to the amp. You then connect your mains to that amp and connect the sub via the low pass output. When you select CD on the USP-1 you get 2.1. Just hit HT and you get multi-channel! You must have the UP-1 and associated amp turned on to listen to your HT setup, though. It is very simple and convenient.
