so my friend wants to have a nice 2 channel setup but his wife won't let him have towers or in/on wall's. his tv/bookcase has a 11" tall slot that would fit 2 6.3's in the horizontal position and a velodyne minivee sub between them. I was just wondering if the 6.3's will sound right if their run in stereo but laid on their side. granted they will be close together but this is all he has to work with.

Most people prefer the 6.2's and yes you can lay them on their sides.

there are opinions on both sides of that one. some prefer the 6.3s, some the 6.2s.

I just know that tons of people like the 6.2's and they were all the rave at Emofest. Perhaps those who spent a little more time in that particular demo room will chime in.

Just to be clear, I haven't heard either. I'm just saying I've heard glowing reviews about both of them.

I listened to all of the Emotiva speakers at emofest in two channel mode in their lounge. They all sounded quite nice, but my favorite for two channel music was the 6.2. I took a pair home with me.
And there is no problem laying them on their sides for two channel use.

My thoughts - even if they are close, with no toe-in (or maybe toe-out) you migth get away with it. While I love my 6.3s, in this case, 6.2s may be better, as there would be more separation. Also, when she sees them in person, there might be room for negotiation.

I think maybe he should put his wife in the horizontal position more often. (either that or just dump her)
When we were looking for a house or condo 8 years ago the very first thing I visualized is how a HT system would fit. My wife knew that and I knew she was looking at the layout of the kitchen. If either one of us was not satisfied then we just moved onto the next condo by mutual agreement. She understood my need for a good HT room and I understood her need for a great kitchen.
My ex-wife wanted to be the boss as well as my mom. We ended up having irreconcilable differences. My second and last wife understood right up front that audio/HT was very important in my life. If any woman i dated brought up the "B" word, the date was immediately over. ;D
PS: "B" word (Bose)

I vote for he 6.2's which I own. I believe if paired with a good subwoofer they are the better choice for sound and cost. Both require a good sub because they roll off around 80 anyway so save the money and put the extra savings toward a better sub.

Placing the 6.3's horizontally should be no problem, because they're designed to work well either way (many speakers do not work this way!). If they're that close together, don't toe them in - but you may have some success with a few degrees of "toe-out"! You'll also need to experiment with angling the speakers up or down, and tweeter position.
