is anyone out there running their emo speakers with a receiver??? specifically the erm 6.2's I have heard some denon, hk, nad, and sherwood newcastle handle 4ohms ok. the problem is the weird component rack is only 14 7/8" deep... I have found denons and sherwoods that are shallow enough to fit but don't want to break the bank on the receiver. this setup is intended for "surround" music and likely won't be played at high spl's It would be nice if emotiva would release some frequency response and impedance graphs on these speakers as well ;D

If you have an AVR with pre-out's why not just get something like a upa2? Would be MUCH better than any AVR IMO and they are reasonably priced

At movie watching level as I recall the 706 didnt even get warm.

Most Denon receivers will drive an 8 ohm load great, but they really don't want to see a lower than 6 ohm load when pushed hard. 4 ohms pushed hard will put the unit into protection. I had a customer who had Vienna Accoustics ask me what he should get to play his Vienna's loud and clear, and I recommended the XPA-5 for him without breaking the bank, and getting great sound this was a great choice. Depth wasn't an issue just as a note. I hate to say it, but most A/V receivers now are more computer, than amplifier these days when you really get down to it. Even a top line A/V receiver can't compare to a Multi-channel dedicated amp like the UPA-7, or XPA-5 for instance.

pioneer elite worked really well with ERT 8.3 speakers

Yamaha RX-v2500 works fne with 6.3s, it does get a little toasty though - but then it does anyway even with all but 1 speaker on the XPA-5.

However, as long as the manufacturers continue to claim at least 100 watts per channel even if it is with only one channel operating, not at rated distortion or flat exaggerated the buyer is happy. ;D

I ran my ERM's for a bit using my H/K AVR 445, didn't have any issues. But I'm pretty sure my H/K is close to 17 inches deep. So if the depth is truly an issue, I'd pull the manuals on the AVR's your looking at and confirm the depth.

I've yet to find a receiver that couldn't drive a pair of 4ohm speakers without issue............

Ive never run into a Harmon Kardon amp that couldn't run a pair of TRUE 4ohm speakers ever. Be aware there are a few "4 ohm" speakers that in reality have an overall impedance curve that AVERAGES significanlly lower than 4ohms..........

Hi i have a onkyo tx-nr807, would it be ok for me to drive the a pair of erd-1's? my other pieces in the system will be driven with a xpa-5 whenever it gets here, the receiver is certified fro 4ohm performance, but i wanted to see if anyone has any experience driving emotiva speakers with their onkyos.

The Emotiva speakers are an easy load to drive. You should have no trouble using any mid-level AVR with them. Just to be safe, monitor how hot your receiver gets the first few times you try driving the Emo speakers. A 4 Ohm load will make your receiver work harder than an 8 Ohm load to produce the same sound levels; and it will manifest itself in the way of heat.
I have yet to see anyone on the Lounge post having trouble driving any Emo speaker; and, just about every brand of receiver has been mentioned as being able to easily drive the Emo speakers. ;D

My Sony STR-DA3300ES ran 2 ert-8.3 a erm-6.3 and 2 erd-1 with no problem. I put a temp guage on top of the Sony and it got 10 deg hotter running these speakers. But when I picked up a xpr-5 the sound was night and day.
