Thanks RR, I share your opinion regarding the 6.2's and 6.3's based on what we heard at Emofest. Although I think the 6.2's are the "best buy" that Emotiva has in speakers, I think the 6.3's are the best of the lot. I think the 6.3's even bested the 8.3's except obviously in the Bass dept. It just had a noticeably better midrange. I kept thinking the perfect speaker would be the 6.3's on top of those dual 8 inch drivers or even better some dual 10 inch would make one awesome speaker. I'm looking forward to going back and spending more time comparing these speakers with a couple of my own CD's. I may just match the 6.3's with a couple of good subs. Gotta love this hobby (more like an obsession sometimes).

If you are uncertain which way to go, I do recommend you get one 6.2 and one 6.3 to experiment with. You will probably end up keeping both and adding another of the one you like best, but you could just return the loser and buy one more of the comparison's winner. This wasy, your tastes and the room's acoustic properties are factored into the decision you make -- not to mention any system synergy that may exist. ;D ;D Hmm... I think I'm really keen on this idea... 50% lower shipping costs!! I guess the question I have is... will I be able to get a reasonable sense of each speaker when not running them as pairs? Maybe if I use a mono recording to do my comparisons?? Apologies if these are silly questions!

I have both the 6.2s and the 6.3s. I've tried them both in our 2 channel setup and 5 channel HT setup. Wow, it's tough to say I like one set over the other. Currently I have the 6.3s in the media room and the 6.2s in 2 channel in the game room. The mids on both are crystal clear and the 6.3s have a tad more bass and a tad more clarity. However the 6.2s paired with a good sub are mighty speakers. I've powered them both with an XPA-5 and an XPA-2 and they handle either amp with dignity, morals, ethics and a big grin, asking for more.
Either setup and combo is what we call a win-win collaboration!!! ;D

I think the real question is do the 6.3s sound $560 bucks better than the 6.2s. I would also like to know how they would match up vs. the Axiom M22s

I would also like to know how they would match up vs. the Axiom M22s I had the Axiom M22s before I sold them and bought the 6.3s. I think the 6.3s are far and away a better speaker. The 6.3s are much clearer and crisper with about the same amount of bass, maybe even a tad less. But you need a good sub with both sets so the difference in bass either way isn't a big deal. Personally, I think the 6.2s sound better than the Axioms because of the mids. The 22s have more bass, but again the sub takes care of that. Just my 2 cents.. ;D

I might have to buy a set of 6.2s and the axioms and do a little shootout. My friend has the Epos and they have a great soundstage. You could be in front of a left or right speaker and swear the center was on.

I've been trying to stay out of this thread for fear I might buy four 6.2's & a 6.3 to see if I would prefer them to my current setup. Must resist!!! I've gotta say that the 6.2's were the most impressive Emotiva speaker in the 2 channel setup at EmoFest, no doubt about it, IMO.

You could be in front of a left or right speaker and swear the center was on. I get that exact sense from the 6.3s. I've switched from PLIIx Music to just stereo and other than the rear fullness, the sound stage did not collapse and it was hard to tell the centre speaker was no longer on. For the movies it's another matter of course, the extra channels are a must.

At the sale price and with the 30day trial for US folks, ou know you want to. ;-) You could probably sell off your current speakers and maybe even make a profit if you liked the Emotivas. Going for ERDs for the surrounds would be even cheaper.

Quick question: I have three 6.2's for my LCR's and was wondering if picking up a 6.3 for center duty would be better than running the 6.2 in a vertical position. Does anyone utilize a 6.3 for center with 6.2's as right/left speakers? I use dual subs so I don't need any of the speakers to go lower.
Thanks, Ted

Aligning the tweeters would be trickier with mismatched ones if you go veritcal for all.
I suppose a 6.3 as centre on an SS-6 might do the trick.

Thanks, Ted I have that configuration - 6.3 center and 6.2's on the left and right. It sounds absolutely wonderful! I think I would be happy with a 6.2 in the center, too, except it doesn't fit my layout. As long as you have a sub, either of these models are excellent choices.

Thanks knuckleheadjones. Would your recommendation RE: ERM-1 be the same if my plans included lots of two-channel music listening?
Thanks!
