Hi all. I'm in the market for a new center channel speaker. I'm running an Outlaw Audio 750 (5X150) amp, Paradigm Studio 60 fronts, Polk CS-250S center, and Polk FXi30 surrounds. I'm ready to upgrade my center (and perhaps the surrounds at a later point). My question is whether mixing 8 ohm front speakers and surround speakers with a 4 ohm center (ERM 6.2) might be problematic in any way? Searching the forums here, the answer appears to be NO (assuming a capable amplifier and proper setup), but I'd be interested in any info to the contrary. Also, any thoughts on how well the Paradigm's would match up with the ERM 6.2? Thanks for any advice.

as long as your amp can handle a 4 ohm load..and your outlaw certainly can, there is no problem with mixing 4 and 8 ohm speakers at all.

also just an FYI, the impedence listed is just a nominal rating (basically an average). Impedence varies according to frequency. As long as the impedence drop doesnt make the amp clip, you're in the clear, and specifically in your case you will be just fine

Thanks all. I'll definitely be ordering an ERM 6.2 along with the UMC-1 once the pre-order units are available. Fortunately, I'm on the original pre-order list for the UMC-1 so hoping they start taking orders while the Holiday sale is still running. If not, I'll be sure to pick up a 6.2 before the sale ends. Cheers.
