Well I'll be getting mine tomorrow.... I'll let you guys know what I think. I have used a 200 disc sony cd changer, a 300 disc sony changer, a sony ps3 and a OPPO 980 sacd/dvd-audio player as my cd players until tomorrow. Plus I'm getting sick so I won't be working out this weekend so that means more listening time:)
I secretly want all my cd's to start sounding like my pink floyd- dark side of the moon sacd in stereo but maybe i'm being crazy.

I will be getting a ERC-1 next week with a few Emotiva cables!!!!! I decided not to upgrade my OPPO BDP-83 and buy the ERC-1 for CD after seeing many reviews. Will let you know how it sounds in my system after break in.

I will be getting a ERC-1 next week with a few Emotiva cables!!!!! I decided not to upgrade my OPPO BDP-83 and buy the ERC-1 for CD after seeing many reviews. Will let you know how it sounds in my system after break in. I love it. But I also had to buy the preamp to integrate with my MMC_1. |

Hey Bruce, how are things in Atkinson. I think you are going to love the ERC-1, it really is an awesome CD player. Listening to it right now...The Firm, Mean Business. Things in Atkinson are great as i have another Emotiva Product!!!! Waiting on the UMC-1 to be released and will be happier. Sounds like things in Manchester are ROCKING and thanks for your help on the ERC-1. I wonder if i am going to need the USP-1?? We are going to have to get together at some as Mancherter and Atkinson are resal close. |

Bruce you have the same front speakers as me. So I'm interested on what you think about the erc-1? Also did you notive a big difference when you added the xpa-2 to your mythos st's? I should have gotten my erc-1 today but since i wasn't home I have to wait until monday and since I doubt i'll be home when they try to deliver it. I will probable have to go across the city to pick it up myself.

The XPA-5 also sounds great for the center and sides and rears.I am going to sell my Mythos Gem XL for sides and rears and replace with Mythos 10. I will let you know how the ERC-1 sounds as i will be receiving shipment Wednesday. |

Will let you know how it sounds in my system after break in. bruce, as I already have both units, I will say that for CD and HDCD you will be extremely pleased with your decision. I am waiting for an XMC to be able to use the XLR balanced inputs and outputs. I was first to post the news about the BDP83SE, and had contemplated an upgrade, but at this point in time, without any real world reviews concerning the ESS DACs, I felt I should keep what I have and be happy. You're actually doing better than me, because I got mine on the preorder at full price.....dang!! Also, like you, I have the XPA-2 for my mains, and the XPA -5 for center and 4 surrounds. Using an ERM-6.3 and 4 ERD-1s.....couldn't be happier, as they blend real well with my home made mains. |

Animo I could not pass up the sale on the ERC1. My choice to buy the ERC1 and not upgrade the OPPO was made on this lounge with all the great reviews from the ERC1 owners. I am waiting on the UMC1 to be released and then to upgrade to the XMC1 as i am on both pre order lists for a while. I will be receiving my ERC1 on Wednesday and have a long weekend to listen and break in.I love my OPPOBDP 83 for DVD AUDIO,SACD,BLU-RAY and thought it was weak in CD music.I hope i have my answer in the ERC1 for music CD.

I felt the Oppo was good in it's own right. BluRays, SACD, DVDs and DVD audio. But when I compared my CDs on the ERC it was no competition. And the ERC also does HDCD which the Oppo doesn't. I have mentioned in some of my posts, and still feel this way about the ERC. As well as it performs, it can at times seem a little forward, bright, and in your face......but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing. It just puts out everything that is being put in.....it's that simple!

Received my ERC-1 a day early and set it up right away. All i can say is WOW!!!!!! You guys were right it sounds much better than the OPPO BDP-83 in stero mode. I am one happy guy i DID NOT UPGRADE the OPPO player as the ERC-1 is SOOOOOOOOOOO Fine and it is not even broken in .My music is alive like being at a concert sitting front and center.The instuments playing are so detailed and not bright as some have said.The bass is great and not boomy as some players spoil the bass. I can not wait till this player breaks in as i am running it all day. Thanks for all your reviews on this player as i made a great move buying another EMOTIVA product and can not wait for the UMC-1 and then the XMC-1 to be released.

I want to be able to run my 8.3's full with the HT bypass as I don't use a sub listening to two channel and I believe the XSP will be able to do that. |

When you guys get together for the New England Emofest, turn the volume knob way up on those XPA-1 amps so that I can hear them down here in NC. lol Besides, I want to see if the XSP-1 sounds any better than the USP-1. That would be quite an accomplishment. ;D

Bruce, the XSP is going to be released in June/July 2010 I believe. I think that was mentioned on a thread somewhere.
But that doesn't mean we can't do a get together before that. I will PM you and RPA1man after the holidays and see what we can work out.
Also, anyone else in the NH area that wants to be a part of this can just PM me.
Maybe I should start a new NE Emo Get Together Thread?
