A bit of background: I'm looking at investing in 3 6.3s as LCR behind an AT screen and a question popped up after seeing the THX specs:
A lot of speakers designed for home theater have limited vertical dispersion and wide horizontal dispersion so that the reflections from the ceiling and floor are minimized. The 6.3s can be placed horizontally or vertically, so i'm going to assume that this means a rather even dispersion.
Does this hurt them over speakers designed to THX specs (see the Klipsch 650s for example)? It would seem to me that speakers that are designed as a horizontal speaker channel would not necessarily do as well when placed vertically. After-all, THX must have added the dispersion requirement for a reason.

I can't answer regarding dispersion... I have no idea. And after listening to them - I don't care They are awesome speakers - very clean, detailed. Excellent imaging. There are several of us here with AT screens with the 6.3s behind it. It works extremely well like that... matched up with ERD-1s for the surrounds. The 6.3s sound perfect - very lifelike. Voices emanate exactly where they are supposed to, and sound exactly like they are supposed to. I couldn't be happier with them. Not sure who you are considering for your screen - mine is one of Seymour's new fixed frames. Extremely pleased with it. Great image - and was very easy to put together. I love products that are designed well... and this one was. Plus Chris was outstanding to work with. Can't say enough good things...

+1 also, if you are getting reflections from the ceiling, stick up some foam treatment - you can even get it in white if you have WAF issues. ;-)
Likewise, a good carpet with rubber backing should sort out a reflective floor, so I don't think dispersion should be an issue.
