As we all know with this hobby, obsession upgrades are inevitable and so comes my sub Ive had it for 9 years and its served me Very well. With the up coming sale on B-stock MFW 15 subs would this be a good upgrade or should I wait for the ERS-112
My use is 70/30 Music/HT, The MFW15 looks to me to be a great value for the money I have read good things about it for music use, but a part of me wants a sealed sub for music. That is where the ERS-112 comes in its a sealed sub.
I know no one has heard the ERS line of subs so it may be hard to comment on it sound wise.
I like the ERS for it being sealed, GUI and built in EQ
I like the MFW15 for its price, Music ability plus HT use and the fact I dint have to pay shipping for it as I live 15 miles from av123

the MFW-15 is a monster sub - you can't really go wrong with it, and I'm not sure how anyone can comment on the upcoming Emo subs since they don't exist. Any input would just be speculation. Have you considered any of the offerings from eD? They have some very nice subs in the MFW-15 price range.

I had the PW2200 for many a year also, great sub.The MFW15 is a greater sub, it would be a nice upgrade from the PW and although I have not heard it I have read that it is quite musical while still having nice movie output and slam.Depending how long you are willing to wait, who knows when the ERS line will be available realisticly.I'm sure they'll be a fine sub also. One you can have now and is a great deal, the other could be a while and is not really proven yet.

More importantly (to me ;D) is how much do you want for the PW-2200?

I really like my JL Audio Fathom F113. It is an awesome Sub! I also know of a dealer that sells them at a really great price. If you're interested, please message me.
If you are close to AV123 (Longmont , CO I believe), then you must be in Boulder and are close to me, as I live in Westminster, CO (28 miles from Longmont). I would be happy to let you come over and hear the JL Audio Sub.

I would like to stay 800 or less I can stretch it to 1000. The ED subs look very nice also, having a sealed sub isn't a priority to me my PW2200 is a ported sub and its been good to me.
agehring... I would like to sell it off but in a year or two I will be finishing my basement so I will need a sub for upstairs and down.
RuggSkin... I live in Firestone which is really only 7-8 miles from Longmont, and thanks for invite to listen to the JL but I know that sub is way out of my price range

+1 for the eD A5-350. Awesome sub. Sounds great in movies and music... I considered the MFW-15 but with their history decided I didn't want to take the risk. And I couldn't wait for the Emo subs... eD support is comparable to Emos - awesome.

The Rythmik would be my choice. Very good sounding sub.

I've been looking at the Epik Dragon and Dynasty, they are out of stock and don't ship outside the USA. I am also looking at the Hsu ULS-15, the wireless connection sounds useful for testing positions if nothing else, waiting for a shipping quote on 1 or 2 od those. And then of course there are the long-awaited Emo subs, I REALLY want to wait for them, but am getting frustrated with my bass now that the all-Emotva speakers sound so good, the ASW really does very little below 25 - 30Hz. There are some others that look interesting like the SVS Ultras, but the price is nearly double. USD2000ish is about my limit and I would really like 2 for that, I could just stretch to 2200 for 2 x ULS-15s (not including tax and shipping of course) as they discount if you buy more. 1 for now might be more sensible though. I think I can wait until January to hear from Emotiva but the trigger finger is getting VERY itchy. Hsu's shipping quote may be the decider. Does anyone have a link to a frequency graph for the ULS-15 so I can compare with the Epik and SVS which both look very good (or indeed anyone that owns one that would like to comment). I found this: www.hometheaterhifi.com/images/stories/2008/november-2008/hsu-uls-15-subwoofer-fr-large.gifBut it's in-room rather than anechoic, so not exactly apples to apples versus what is on the manufacturers web site.

So 2 x F15s would cost me a bit less than 2 x ULS-15s (sorry for hi-jacking the thread!) given the choice and ignoring the higher cost and wireless option of the Hsu, which do people think would be the best? (I already have a shipping quote for the Rythmiks). I am looking for a sub that is really accurate, tight and with minimum distortion that works well for HT and music. Thanks!

With a second daisy chained off the first you will be able to drop the gains, lower the xover point and increase low frequency extension while significantly or completely eliminating any distortion while improving low level(and high level)detail and the ability to blend in with your mains. 2 PW-2200's will absolutely TRUMP any single subwoofer option you have mentioned.

Whereas I have personally bought and built my own Elemental Designs Dual 13 inch sealed sub, can attest to it's performance with both movies and music, and their superb customer relationships..... I would easily recommend their subs to anyone. However, I find it very hard to argue with the logic posted by ntrain42

I would love to do dual subs but at this time I don't have the room for it, unless I buy a new entertainment center the one I have is rather large. A new one is on my list of things I want but way down the list.
I like the Rythmik sub and I really like the F15 and it is close to my price range.

Tell me your not sticking your sub in an entertainment cabinet............why not post a pic of your room for us.

LOL! You got plenty of room for another one. You could put it on the other side of the entertainment center,or next to the one you currently have,(or behind it) stack it etc. Just got to use your imagination. I personally would move your main towers to the outside and position your subs between the mains and the entertainment center. Toss that free standing lamp(get a wall mount lamp to save floor space)find a better place for your guitar hero guitar to start. Any pics of the back side of the room? Your surround placement is a bit "nearfield" to say the least, LOL

Things like WAF can effect this, or he just may feel like there are to many speakers in the room.
