LOL! You got plenty of room for another one. You could put it on the other side of the entertainment center,or next to the one you currently have,(or behind it) stack it etc. Just got to use your imagination. I personally would move your main towers to the outside and position your subs between the mains and the entertainment center. Toss that free standing lamp(get a wall mount lamp to save floor space)find a better place for your guitar hero guitar to start. Any pics of the back side of the room? Your surround placement is a bit "nearfield" to say the least, LOL Just because you believe he has enough room does not mean HE believes he has enough room. Things like WAF can effect this, or he just may feel like there are to many speakers in the room. Obviously, but he does have the physical space to do it, if he takes out a little time and thinks creatively. Regardless replacing his 2200 with a sub thats going to in all honesty perform in a very similiar fashion doesnt really make sense. If he wants a true performance increase, he is best off grabbing another 2200. The benefits would be substantial. Just swapping out one sub for another, especially the ones he is thinking about is at best going to give marginal gains, and he could even be going backwards too. That 2200 has a good efficient 12" driver driven by a solid 500watt power amp. Its no slouch, and set up right it performs very well. 2 of those together though would open up alot of tweaks and make a vast improvement in his sub frequency SQ for low end extension, output and linear detail.

Plus 1. After agonizing over a decision, I got the 15" Rythmik - no regrets. Just be sure to check if it is in stock though, my 'back order' took over 6 weeks of more agonizing before it arrived.

I live in Longmont. I built a Rythmik Sub and use it in my basement HT. Let me know if you want to stop by on a weekend and check it out. If you need a workshop to build it, my garage is fully equipped and I would be willing to help.

It's not just about "can it play 20Hz loud", it's about playing everything at the same level. When you can play 20Hz at the same volume as 50Hz, without changing the volume control, AND at reference.....THAT is a sub that will knock your socks off. At 100db, at 60db.
Try an SVS. Just once.
