Ok, so for mains I'm choosing bookshelf. I have two to choose from:
Wharfedale Wharfedale Diamond 9.1's ($249)
Monitor Audio B2's (not BR2's) ($120 w/ stands)
Which set?
The Wharfedale's aren't as sensitive but they have a good reputation. The Monitor Audio's also have a good rep and they are cheaper.

Tough choice. I have never heard the Wharfedale's, but have read good things about them. I thought about picking up a pair a while back for a small PC system. I can tell you that I am really happy with my Monitor Audio's. At half the price, I think the MA's are a solid choice.

That's kinda what I am thinking. I now both are good. The design factor with the Wharfedale's is something to be considered though. Have you seen those beauties? It seems every review has said the same thing, the vinyl is the ONLY drawback. The cabinet design is spectacular (tapered sides) and the driver design is immaculate. But M/A are a great company as well that is used to making very expensive and well performing speakers. Money saved is money spent on an amplifier anyways. I think i have made my mind up. Monitor Audio all the way.

I own the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1's and they are stunning with any Emotiva Amplifier, don't settle for anything else. Abosultely amazing speaker for the price. I'm actually selling my pair of Diamond 9.1's because I'm upgrading to the Evo2's.

Well, Monitor Audio it is and they sound great. I had a distortion problem with the bass. It sounded boxy. Found out it wasn't the speakers it was the Sound Blaster card for the laptop. Interesting. Oh well, i got great speakers now. I might just get those wharfedales for a 2 channel setup.

I went off wharfdale when I saw the crappy insides of some of their "plastic cabinet" speakers - they reminded me very much of Bose. One of them just fell apart - held together with a couple of dabs of glue! Promptly replaced with a monitor audio "baby bronze" as it happens - in a different league.

Yeah, so far so good. Just need an emotiva amp for headroom and I'm good. I was so close to getting those Wharfdale's but Monitor Audio was highly recommended by some people I trust.
