This speaker addiction is beginning to test my patience.. ;D From Axioms to Emos to "what's next??" I'm looking at MAs, Viennas, Axioms again, and now I read about Revel and wonder about them. Does anyone own Revels and what are your thoughts?? No, there's nothing wrong with the Emo 6.3s or 6.2s. Just changeitis in my blood....... ;D

I think for me I'm coming down severe speaker curiousity. It would turn into addiction if I had the funds and space. I keep hearing about lots of different brands and then I find lots of others on the net. In addition to the brands that cgolf mentions I'm curious about Ohm Walsh speakers, Magnepans, speakers with horn drivers. Ugh... I need to hit the Lotto. JD

I would look into speakers from JTR and Seaton for your next upgrade.

All speakers have their own sonic signature and it's really up to your taste in sound as which is right for you. All the brands you mention are good ones with good reputations. I've not heard any Emo's, but I've heard they sound great and offer tremendous value dollar wise. It's also about price point I would imagine. If money were no object, I'm sure your choice would be different than being on a budget as most of us are. That's why Ben & Jerry's has 57 different flavors... All good, but all different

I've owned Revel Studios and they have a very neutral European character to them. Not for every taste, but super-well designed and executed systems from the top of the Harmon line.

Just changeitis in my blood....... ;D Honestly, I've done the Revel route(A picture of my old setup with a pair of Salons). Nice speakers, but way overpriced for what you get. The one exception to that is their B15A subwoofer, which I consider as a "gold standard" subwoofer. They can be picked up for under $1500 both new and used if you look around hard enough. As for speakers, depends on what your looking for. I personally prefer single point source style monitors(Like Kefs or DIY kits using Lowther drivers)or panel speakers(Like Maggies and Quads)when it comes to critical 2 channel setups.

However, if you are considering going back to Axioms again because changeitis is in your blood, then I think you need to go to the doctor's office for a complete blood work up! ;D

My upgradeitis is mainly with floor standers....

Lol, changeitis! I suppose that's part of what keeps this hobby or any hobby interesting! I too have recently started getting the itch for new speakers. I'm currently running Phase Technology V-12s in my 2 -channel listening room. They're great speakers actually. Unbelievable transients and great low end extension, although they can sound boomy with certain recordings. They were an upgrade from my Previous Phase Tech VDT 7.5's. Though the V-12's have greater frequency extension on both ends of the spectrum, and are more coherent, I've never felt like they were as smooth or musical as the VDT's. I read in another forum where another owner felt like the V-12s, indeed the whole (V)elocity series were "voiced" more for home theatre use than music. I think I could agree with that. Anyway, now that the itch has set in, it's just a matter of time before it happens. Barring any financial issues, I'll probably have different speakers sometime next year. I've been thinking about the Phase Tech PC9.1 or 9.5. See here: www.phasetech.com/pc-series.htmlI'm certainly open to trying out other brands as well, but it's gonna be hard to beat Phase Technology's bang for the buck. They are like Emotiva in that regard.

They are like Emotiva in that regard. I've heard both the V-12s and the PC9.1's back to back during a demo of these speakers. The PC 9.1 is definitely the more musical speaker of the two. They have a richer, sweeter sound and better imaging than the V-12s to my ears. The one criticism I had about the speakers was that they completely came apart when pushed very hard. These are not well suited to hard music at high volumes. If you listen to these at moderate volume, they could provide years of enjoyment and satisfaction. If you are looking for something to play at concert level output, look elsewhere. These speakers are not up to the task. Of course, it is in your best interests to hear these speakers for yourself, so that you can make that decision for yourself.

Hmmmm.....that would be a deterrent as I do occasionally enjoy cranking some Opeth or Gojira. ;D Like you said though, it would be ideal to hear them for myself. Hopefully, once I'm ready to really shop I'll be able to.
