Congrats Emotiva!!!!! My new ERC-1 has won as it should because it is a fantastic CD player. It kicks the ass off my OppoBDP-83. The Oppo is a great Blu-Ray and up conv. of DVD but gets beat up against the ERC-1 for CD. I am glad i did not upgrade to Oppo BDP-83 SE as i am more than happy with my Award Winning ERC-1.

In 2008 the XPA-2 was awarded: Best Value Stereo Power Amp In 2009, there is no Best Value Stereo Amps In 2008 there were 20 awards. In 2009 there were 34. In 2009 there were 34 awards. I find their award catagories to be inconstent and confusing. One thing to remember: Awards drives traffic to the website. nudge, nudge....wink, wink.... |

If no product was deemed "award worthy" in a specific category...that category stays blank. I think the other year we did not award anything in the BD player category...not because there weren't any made, just none were considered terrific enough to be award worthy. Emo cables even got awarded this year....sweet! |

When you questioned if SECRETS thinks the XA30 is better than the XPA-1 you overlooked a very important thing. The XPA-1 received the award for "Best Value in Power Amps", but the XA30 received it award for "Best Stereo Power". The XPA-1 is not a stereo amp, so no comparison was made between the two.
It would be very interesting to see how a comparison of 2 XPA-1 amps and a Pass XA30.5 Stereo amp would turn out. Being an over-built, over-engineered class A power amp, it would appear that the Pass would have the upper hand... but your never know. Something else worth noting is that at its sale price you could buy 7 to 8 XPA-1 Amps for each Pass XA30.5. ;D
