So, as part of the WAF factor, I have limited space around the location of my cabinet/TV.
Does/Has anyone set a speaker on top of their sub?
Absolute nono?

forum member Ray has his 8.3 Towers on top of his dual epik subs with no reported issues. There's a pic of it somewhere, or you can PM him.

When my family puts stuff on my sub it usually falls off as soon as the sub gets to work

I have my speakers on top of the subs per the pic above. the subs are on the carpet with an inch thick piece of rubber under them, and the speakers are on a piece of rubber also. For the brief period I can even physically stand the system cranked up.....there is absolutely zero movement of the speakers. I usually turn it quickly down when I see Sheetrock dust and my window frames flex. The subs are quite large, very heavy, and sturdy. They do NOT move (the cabinets),....these are 18 inch woofers and they do move a LOT, but the cabinets stay firmly in place. Same goes for the 8.3's I leave the covers on, I would prefer them off, but we have a couple of damn cats, and I would be obliged to kill one if he damaged a speaker cone. ...... How long do cats live anyway? jeeeeeesch we had these things over ten years......time for them to check out.

The only thing I thought to say about your setup was that makes the main speakers VERY high. Ideally, you want the tweeters of the front three speakers to be aligned, and they should be at or near ear level of a seated person. But if you like it set up that way then by all means keep it.

You are correct dyohn......I dont know if you can notice but the top speakers are actually tilted DOWN 2 full inches in the front. the backs are on a 2 inch riser and when setting in the HT seats, happen to be just perfect. We experimented with the positioning till we got it right......when we sat in the chairs.

I've seen vintage speakers like these KEF 105 speakers where the tweeters and mids are on top of a subwoofer. I've never heard speakers like these but seems like it could work depending on the height of the tweets and mids. JD

Thx Dyohn for clarifying. I thought those large speakers on the bottom were sealed subwoofers.

They use 12" woofers in a standard 3-way alignment. I believe the woof is crossed to the mid at about 600Hz. These were pretty nice sounding as I recall.
