Chuckienut, I agree, that would be my ultimate goal, but ~$500 for the 6.3 vs. almost $2000 for the 6.3 + 8.3. Quite a price difference. If I had the money I'd definitely do the whole system, but right now I only really have enough to get the center. I was just trying to figure out if I would be happy with a mismatched system for a while until I could afford the 8.3 towers. I don't know if I should build it piece by piece and live with a mismatch system or just wait until I have enough money to buy the towers and the center all at the same time. What would you do? or anyone else that reads this - what would you do? Yes, I would buy the 6.3 for your center and then the 8.3 down the road if and when you can afford it. That is what I meant to imply. ;D iket, FWIW I recently was wondering also about using a 6.3 in the center. In my case tho I had a very poor timbre match to my Dahlquist DQM-5's with the Klipsch KSFC5 CC. Being horn loaded it just didn't blend well with the Quists which I believe are contructed more like your Polk's. So I bought a 6.3 and am very happy...its been a big improvement. I am now longer aware that there are 3 separate speakers across the front...it is a much more seamless soundstage. To Chuckie's point, by doing that you set yourself up for a nice upgrade someday to 8.3's or 2 more 6.3's. I would like to upgrade myself by the current setup will serve me just fine for now.
